Hi again.

Hypothetically, is it possible to to put a commissios section up or something were people could offer/request assistance in the form of actually creating pieces for them? I'm sure with all these members there might be a few intesrested. Or is this a tried and failed idea or some legal thingy that prevents it?

I'll put a poll up just to see, but if it can't be done I'll take it down

Just wondering,

Cheers

ITs a good idea, but I guess it would all depend what is being commisioned. You could not commision and offer cash (Or accept payment) for work based on other peoples ideas, such as Marvel or DC comics or the likes, as they are copywritten materials.

Something original like "I want a naked Vicky in a cave with a sword battling a giant ogre wearing a loin cloth", that would work. But the Batmen, the Spidermen, the Spawns, they wouldnt fly, if Im not mistaken.

Thanks,

I had a sneaking suspicion that there would be some kind of restrictions to it. That's fine with me because I would be more interested in original concept creation, but at least other people will know what they can and can't ask for

Cheers

Funny, any comic book show you go to, you can get almost any artist with free time to do just that.

Doing a commissioned piece of artwork falls under a different set of rules then creating a tshirt or something that is mass produced.

wow, i didn't know Polls worked in Animotions (I had this idea they had gotten disabled for a while).

Someone over at 'rotica also proposed a Commission forum, and I was kind of against it (even though i take commissions myself), because, what for? Just post your stuff in the galleries and let people find you (that's how it happened to me, at least).

Someone wanting to commission someone else will undoubtly browse the galleries... then, when they find an artists of their liking, they can PM her/him asking "hey, I like your work, do you take commissions?".

But that is just my opinion... a Commission forum might be useful, but I really don't see how it would be.

Wasnt aware of that Doug. Thanks for joinjing the looser club with Sharby, Orca and myself lol.
But seriously - Wouldnt those artists be permited from their respective employers/publishers to do such a thing?
Wouldnt Marvel for instance, come down on me if I had a print of say Spidey fighting Goblin, and people wanted an 8x10 print of it, wouldnt they come down on me, or maybe the site, to either halt and remove the "offending" item, or would htey just turn a blind eye?

I know I had heard a rumour around here that Marvel wasnt happy with the freebie sections of characters protraying their creations. I could be wrong.

You'd think they'd be happy about the free advertising and give us some perks. I often hear on TV talkshows about celebrities mentioning some product and the company gives them a lifetime supply of it or something like that. Maybe the trademarked freebie characters should be linked to Marvel.com or whatever and clearly marked with copyright notice.
