Is there an easy way to duplicate props in Poser? I'm thinking something along the lines of a copy 'n' paste type operation. Thanks.

Unfortunately, no. The only way you can really do it is save it to the library and keep bringing it in. I REALLY wish they'd institute this feature.

If you're running Poser 5 or Poser 4 with ProPack, I seem to recall a Python script somewhere that allowed you to Copy/Paste Props. Problem is, it's not free. It's part of script bundle over at DAZ.

Can't say how well they work since I haven't tried them myself, but it's an option.

If there was a copy and paste function, what would you paste to? Are you trying to make copies of the prop inside the main work window, or make copies outside of the program entirely?

Rather than using stored items from the library, it's very easy to use the "all" button on the Grouping Tool for making copies inside the work window.

Here's the situation: I am working on a scene "inside" the world of software - sort of a la Tron or the Matrix. I want to do floating pages of hex, binary, etc (I had a go at this, but wasn't overly happy with the result).

What I would like to do is add a square prop, paint it with a data structure texture (usually printscreens of a hex dump). Then I'd like to duplicate it several times, so that I can create a whole bunch of squares in a stack, creating a floating block of computer data. Having created one, I was hoping there was a quick, easy way to duplicate it in the Poser workspace so I could quickly build a stack of them. Then I could group them and treat the result as a single entity.

It would appear, however, that the shortest I can get is to create the first square, apply the texture and save that to the library. Then I can add a bunch of them, one at a time, and position them, one at a time. This takes longer and is a pain in the rear. Ah well, such is life. My thanks to all who have replied or will reply with suggestions.

Create your stack and parent each additional cube to the first. Then save to the library as a group.

Hm. I was using two-sided squares... If I understand you aright, you mean use cubes, and paint only one pair of opposing faces with textures, leaving the others transparent? Arrange the lot in a stack of whatever size I need, and save the whole shebang to the library?

I have to admit this never occured to me. I must give it some thought. it would take some time and work to set up the first time, but after that it would be no trick at all... Thanks muchly for the suggestion.
