| He died today at the age of 52 after lapsing into a coma following a cardiac arrest. |

This is a sad, sad day. Christopher Reeve was a real inspiration, given how he turned his accident into a crusade and didn't allow it to rule his life. For those of my age group who, like me, grew up reading comics and watching every Superman movie several times, Chris's accident in 1995 was hard to accept. The fact that he didn't accept it and instead fought like hell against not only his disability but those of others made a lot of us realize that the most important part of "Superman" is the last three letters. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

It came as a shock to me today. A sad, sad shock. I always thought I'm going to see him walk again.
He is walking now, wherever he is.
Rest in peace, Christopher Reeve. The man who never gave up. _________________ ----

When I read it on Yahoo I shed a big long slow tear. It's the kind of tear that forces its OWN way out.
After a while I started thinking about the episode of "The Tick" television series in which the Immortal died. .........I hope they treat Superman much better now that he's gone.

| That's a very nice wish Hasdrubal but frankly after the recent death of Supergirl AGAIN, I have lost all respect for DC comics. I'm frankly fed up with the let's kill off our best hero's and make them keep coming back as someone else or something else. You Don't see Marvel Comic's, pardon my french, @#$%ing with the histories and timelines of the X-Men or Spiderman or any of their top sellers. As far as I'm concerned DC comics should be the one to die and not come back. (Yeah, consider me disgusted after seeing Kara die yet again!!!) |

I deceided a long time ago that all comics stories written after 1982 never happened. It saves me a lot of teeth grinding and anguish.
It's a shame that so few of you mortals know I have such vast powers over the universe. |

[does a spittake]
All I'm going to say is "Spiderclone" and "Jean Grey"
Basically, both DC and Marvel have had their share of grand screwups and I think I'll leave it at that.
That said, I was deeply saddened by the news of Chistorpher Reeve's death for so many reasons.
Rest in peace, Superman. _________________ "Flash, quit heckling the supervillain!" - Green Lantern

Ok, so maybe Marvel has two that you remember but frankly compared to Golden Age Earth superman and Justice League, New Earth Justice League and Superman, Killing Superman, Crises on Infinite Earths, Power Girl, Kara Mark II etcetra they've not been anywhere near as bad as DC comics has been. Seems when DC can't come up with something original they pull the same tired monkey out of their asses. Let's kill someone big and make our sales go through the roof and explain it all as some alternate universe thing. Don't get me wrong, I AM a Superman fan Bigtime and have been for my whole life. It's Just Corporate DC that's turned me away from comics. |

I never stopped believing.
There was a lovely post-credits tribute at the end of Smallville this week. Quite touching. |

Yeah that's the ONLY part of Smallville I caught because I was doped up on valium after having three teeth pulled for my new upper partial and totally forgot what day it was. Today I went out and bought a new VCR and have set it to record Smallville for the rest of the season in case I'm preoccupied or drugged stupid again just in case. The Other VCR is already set to record Lost which is on at the same time but even that failed me this week due to tape shortage. <sigh> Let's just say it's been a bad week for me between missing my two favorite shows, having three teeth pulled and fighting with a DSL connection that's down more than it's up even after three service calls! And the death of a man I greatly respected and would even go so far as to say I loved even though not personally knowing him. Anyone wannna shoot me a tape of Smallville and Lost that I missed this week I'd really appreciate it and will send blanks back to cover the cost! |
