Disney buys CrossGen (@ Cinescape Online)
Disney bought the whole line, including the "big ones" like Sojourn and Way of the Rat, but are apprently only going to be developing Abadazad for the time being. Apparently Abadazad "lends itself perfectly to Disney’s synergistic philosophy." I'm not sure what the English translation would be. Probably something like "we feel we can milk this f--ker to death in every possible way." _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

| More new characters as intellectual property Hmmmmm? Perhaps Disney can make some new McDonalds "Happy Meal" toys with Vietnamese child labor in poorly ventilated sweat shops.....They are a child freindly company, or so their marketing people claim. |

I think McD's happy meal toys are actually made in China. They have a very extensive labor network. We'd call them 'detention camps' but as long as the result is cheap products... who cares?
CrossGen doesn't seem like a disney style venture though... |

The 101 Dalmations promo was made in Vietnam. Ordinarily I don't get upset over where and how products are made, but Disney's phony child friendly image makes me want to barf.
Furthermore, I have been boycotting their products since visiting Disney World in 1983. The food services in the park ranged from badly run to non-existant in those days. |

Disney sucks. At Epcot, the only beer available at their Canadian Pavilion is Molson Golden. I don't know any Canadians who actually drink Molson Golden. Even worse, it was something like $5 a glass when I was there. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

WOW! They actually have something to drink now. They've come a long way. There were very few places where a Coke or Pepsi could be bought back then, let alone a beer.
It's hard to believe how bad it was 20 years ago. If you made reservations at the King Stephan Restaurant they would lose the reservation. If you went to the one and only company burger joint, there was a 2 hour (+) wait. When I finally got to the front of the line for ordering, the grease ball behind the counter actually said, "We have it on the menu, but we're out of those. So you'll have to go to the end of the line again." After an additional 30 (+) minute wait with another grease ball, a thin barely edible piece of soy product burger was handed to me. I guess they wanted to be nicer to the cows. The next day of my Disney excursion, I discovered there were no shuttle buses running to the parking lot during meal hours. After walking 2.5 miles to car, we found a Burger King. After Burger King, we had another long walk back. I was sad to read the Kraft Corporation closed their exhibit at Epcot. You could get ice cream and a few other things there. I bought a 3 day ticket on that trip. The unused third day of the ticket is probably still valid, but there's no way I'll ever go back there. |

So anyway... It happens that I've been reading a bit of Crossgen lately. I shouldn't have ignored it when it was available. And that comicsontheweb was a fantastic idea...
