ive been browsing around the web trying to find something to help me out, i want to be able to build anime in 3ds max and have it appear as if it were hand drawn anime, i know this is possible ive seen work done like this

weather its simply the textures or a complete plugin is necessary to produce such art, i dont know, but i was hoping someone here might be able to "shove me in the right direction" to finding it......

What version do you have? R5 and up includes an "Ink and Paint" material that does a pretty good job.

There are a few plug ins that would work for you. If you are using Imported Poser Figures, Ink and Paint will be a bear to work with, and it doesn't allow you to use transparency maps. I prefer to use Illustrate. It isn't perfect, but does a really good job of giving an entire scene a cell shade gloss over. If you combine ink and paint and Illustrate, you can do some pretty good stuff.

Final toon is another option, but it never grew on me. The nice thing about illustrate is you can cell shade even over textures, and this allows you to get an anime look and still keep, say, textures and transparencys for something like lingerie or veils, hair, etc.

You will want to read the manual and tutorials with Illustrate.

Good luck!
