Waaaay back I remember a very cool fantasy type image used for a (Rumplemintz?) ad that depicted a girl riding on a polar bear...it may have appeared in old (1980's?) Heavy Metal or National Lampoon magazines. Did an internet search & came up empty. If anyone knows what I'm talkin about...PLEASE let me know! If ya have a the pic and could provide a scan it would be GREATLY appreciated!

| The ad appears on page 217 of the January 1987 edition of Playboy. Send me a message on the in-house mail system with you email address. |

The centerfold was Luann Lee. Birth date 1/28/61. Her favorite foods were pasta, vegetables, and Thai food. Her turn-ons were: erotic perfume, sensuous clothing, laughter, power, a good listener, and class. She was turned off by narrow-minded people, indecision, and people of weak character. ---Three strikes against me.
Actually I kept that issue for the Marilyn Monroe poster. |

In the last couple months since this forum thread started, I've received several requests for the Rumplemintz ad. To save yourself an email, here is a link you can click for the image.

If anyone cares for a little history behind the pic: She started life as a Dungeons and Dragons character played by a guy whos' favorite drink was Rumplemintz schnaps. He sent in the original rendition that was used in the early ads. Later they hired a pro to clean up the pic and provide the version kindly provided in the link.
We were stationed at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA at the same time in '88-89' but different squadrons. Never did get to game together but did get a few games in with some guys from his group. |

Thanks for the history, Bigreddog!
If you found this page by looking for the Rumplemintz polar bear girl, the reason you haven't been able to find out much with Google is that it's not spelled right.
You want: "Rumple Minz" (or "rumpleminz")
Not that this helps me a whole lot - there was another Rumple Minz ad, quite similar, possibly only available as a poster, that was much, much, better - and I'm looking for it still. No luck with the obvious. Done in the style of a Frank Frazetta illustration, possibly by him.
Here's another one: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Page=1&Order=Date&Piece=118402&GSub=29782&GCat=0&UCat=0
If that link breaks, look for "Costas, Charles" on the comicartfans website. Costas says | Quote: | | This painting was done for one of the more famous advertising campaigns from the early 90's. Rumple Minze published a series of three barbarian women riding on polar bears. There were two blondes and this red head. These ads certainly made it worthwhile to wait for my Rolling Stone subscription each week. I am unsure who the painter is, but it was done in a style similar to Ken Kelly, Boris Vallejo, and/or Frank Frazetta. |
There's another blonde version that is very common and can easily be found in the eBay Stores section of ebay. (No link because ebay links are too darn long.) |

| actually I'm typing to find this paticular ad that I cut from rolling stone's back in 1982. The woman ride's a harnessed polar bear while wielding a double edge sword and shield and a silver breast plate w/ the German crest in the center of the breast plate she has blonde hair and shin armor. the cool winter snow swirl's around her as she is poised for combat. this was to be a center piece tattoo but I gave up and through the ad away which was in my photo album and now lost..... please help me find her again. |
