With comics being turned into movies all the time, I figured this would be a fun little topic/project.
Pick any hero... and cast from known actors. You have to be able to better than the most recent batch of Hollywood directors.
Here's the fun part!!! Get an Image of the actor and make a mock up them AS the Hero. Then post them to the Gallery and link back here.
Make sure your submission allows rating. That we can vote on your choice.
You can do heroes that have already been done as long as you don't use the same actor. You can use actors who have played other heroes as long they are you are not casting them as that hero again. |

This is a really tough one for me, because I have trouble picturing known actors as superheroes. With the possible exception of Dennis Quaid as Hal Jordan, there isn't anyone who comes ti mind I would willingly cast, at least as far as well-known actors are concerned. I'd want people to look at the movie screen and say "that's Batman," not "that's George Clooney playing Batman." I don't think you get that kind of immersion when you cast a well-known actor and you certainly don't get that when you cast someone like Nicholas Cage or Tom Cruise. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

Ben Browder from Farscape would make a decent Hal Jordan. I wish I'd thought of it! Saw a Photo Manip of him as Hal over at HeroMorph though so I can't take any credit for the idea.
In other News, here's another idea I swiped and Poserised then FLASHED:

I dunno, Browder has the adventurous bravado down pretty well, but he just doesn't have the ... I don't know what word to use. Not quite "dignity," but I guess strong veteran presence. Quaid has a really strong screen presence, the kind where no matter who he's playing, you feel that this is a likeable guy you can trust with your life. I feel Browder would be more suited to Guy Gardner than Hal Jordan -- still a good guy, but kind of a reckless loose cannon.
Then again, I'm probably a little biased as Quaid has been one of my favourite actors since The Right Stuff _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

Well I'm certainly not going to disagree on Dennis's qualifications. I've liked Dennis since I twas a wee teenager. Enemy Mine, Inner Space, Dreamscape, the list of his fine works just goes on and on. I just figured Ben Browder looked the part and other than Farscape and SG1, he is still a fairly "Unknown" actor. Especially among the non-scifi audiences. |

Every time I've thought about a Green Lantern movie, Dennis Quaid comes to mind. I've never been able to shake it, lol. Furthermore, I can't picture anyone else playing Hal. I tend to blame it on Innerspace. That's when it started.
I would like to see Scarlett Johansson or Elisha Cuthbert as Supergirl. |

When I said "known" actors I didn't mean to limit it to big screen stars. Just not complete unkowns or wrestlers with NO acting credits. Chrsitopher Reeve had SOME acting chops before getting the role of Superman.
What gave me the idea was discussion on who could play Captain Marvel (Shazam). I'd like to see David Boreanaz from the TV series Angel as the Big Red Cheese. Not too ugly, not too good looking. You can take him serious or he can do comedy.
I can't seem to find a pick of him with his hair slicked back though.
I like Dennis Quaid as an actor, but I don't quite get him as Hal Jordan. Neither Quaid nor Browder really comes off as dignified enough for Hal.
Of course... that's that the picture mock upas are for. |

Well firt off, I would "Assume" that any Green Lantern picture they made would start with Hal Jordan's origins as the ring bearer. Hal Jordan as a younger guy was not exactly what I'd call dignified. He was a hot headed Test Pilot/business guy from what I recall. Both Dennis and Ben can certainly play a young Hal Jordan.
He gained his dignity through years and years of wearing that ring, but he wasn't always that kinda guy. |

Who'd have thought of Gregory Peck as Batman? David Mazzuchelli did, and it's brilliant.
And Elisha Cuthbert can play anyone she likes, for as long as she likes.

Actually the more I think about it, Dennis is getting kinda old to be playing Hal Jordan in his early years. We'd end up with having to cast somenoe younger for Hal's origin years. |

| I can't think of any particular star I'd like to see as a hero or heroine, but I don't want too see Tom Cruise in any movie again. I wish someone would tell him his 15 minutes are over. |

Assuming time travel is possible where appropriate how about:
Eartha Kitt as Catwoman
Nicholas Cage as the Joker
Marilyn Monroe as Wonderwoman
Mel Gibson as Slaine
Jo Brand as Judge Dredd
Jackie Chan as Superman (save on the special effects)
Tim Robbins as Batman
James Marsters as pretty much anyone he damn well pleases.
and why not? |

Hasn't Eartha Kitt been Catwoman already?
Who's James Marsters?
Jo Brand's too aggressive for the role.
And correcting myself, I think there are two cs as well as two of everything else in Mazzucchelli.

Ian, James Marsters played "Spike" on the Buffy TV series and "Brainiac" on Smallville. Also, didn't Alex Ross base his Kingdom Come Batman on Gregory Peck? I loaned my copy out, so I can't check.
I would have loved to see Ed Harris cast as Lex Luthor. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS
