The animation is as good as any of the WB products. But to take an epic like the Death of Superman and do this to it, is just a tragedy.
The craptastic writing of the WB has finally invaded their animation division. The characters are written PURELY to their stereo types.
Superman is "tapping" Lois... but hasn't revealed he's Clark!!!
As usual, Superman is the only hero in the whole universe.
One of the great things about the whole Death of Superman event was the way it effected the entire DC Universe with Justice League regulars doing their best to slow down Doomsday.
Nah... skip that. We don't need to see that Doomsday is bad ass and that ONLY Superman has a chance to stop him.
Instead of the classic dual punch calamity that take sold Supeman's death, he gets a single really bad gut shot, and then beats Doomsday with enough strength to walk out of the smoke cloud and die.
Instead of exploring the 4 replacement Superman, Lex just clones the Man of Steel and fakes Superman's return.
Ripping element of the Eradicator story thread, Clone Superman is more vengeful and draconian in his brand of Justice, leading to showdowns with cops and the military.
This leads to a fairly meaningless showdown between the resurrected real Supes, and Semi-Evil Clone Supes.
The only good moment in the whole thing is when an animated version of Kevin Smith makes a comment about Superman fighting a Giant Spider. For those who know about with his involvement with Death of Superman movie, it's an Ok laugh.
Overall... this version lacks any of the heart and soul of the the original. Save your money and buy the trade paperbacks of the original if you don't already have them.

Agreed. This movie should have been a two hour version of the Return of Superman TPB with better, more realistic, art.
It would be neat to see a Poser/Daz Studio version of this wehole thing (too bad it would take FOREVER to do). Hey, if I had the content and programs needed, I'd do it.

No joke, this is something I have been working on for 6 years lol. Havent gotten to the animation - But Ive gotten half the storyboards done. Limited the "extra" heroes crap, like they did for the official one, but did keep many key players in.
But I agree, I doubt it will ever see the light of day. My team consists of 6 people counting myself for animation ect. Would take way too much time. _________________ =============================
