Side note about Janes Information Group -- a lot of their stuff, like their aircraft, warship and ground forces recognition guides, can be purchased from bookstores. I got their aircraft guide last year and I love it. Thanks to that book, I corrected CNN a half-dozen time when they showed footage or military aircraft in the Gulf region and said it was something it wasn't _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

I love stuff like this, and to have this kind of list is invaluable. If I can find my old bookmarks, I might be able to add to this.

No more websites, but here are some books well worth checking out. None are specifically about comics, but writing is writing and you need to use the same techniques and fill the same needs in any format.
The Screenwriters' Bible (David Trottier) - geared towards scriptwriting, obviously, but it has a fantastic "checklist" you can use for any plot you're writing to make sure you don't have any holes or major weaknesses. I first bought this book almost seven years ago, and I still go back and reference it with every piece of fiction I write, whether it's a screenplay, a comic script or a novel.
Making a Good Script Great (Linda Seger) - again, primarily geared towards screenplays, but as with Trottier's book, the tips contained within can be applied to any piece of fiction. Fantastic section on creating believable characters and dialogue.
Stephen King: On Writing (Stephen King) - not a "how to" book as much as it is King talking about how his career began, his approach to writing and his philosophy on writing. This is a great read and despite it not being an instruction manual, I actually found it really enlightening and it helped my writing (or more accurately, my approach to it) a lot. The reason I include it here is because it contains some great tips on efficient research methods as well as a handy section called Chronologies & Factsheets: Timelines of & facts about various historical periods and events, which can be helpful for background info.
http://www.rfthomas.clara.net/bigfoot.html - a pretty good site devoted to sasquatch (bigfoot). Hairy hominids have been making appearances in literature since Gilgamesh, so don't assume this kind of info is only useful for CryptoFiction. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS
