Hello all,
Another novice stumbling around in Poser 4!
I want to experiment with making some character textures but I'm at a loss as to where to begin. Any suggestions greatfully received...

welcome
"character textures" ....
textures as in skin textures or textures as in for clothing pieces etc?
if it is for
skin texturing
You need to choose your model first
find the model's UV template
*usually found on the poser 4 cd*
or
if it is an add-on model [millenmium model] like vicky or mike, the template will be on the model's purchase page at Daz3D
take the UV template into a image editor like photoshop or paintshop pro etc
create a new layer and make your changes
save your texture
then import into poser under your material editor dialogue box options
if it is for
clothing textures
follow the same procedure as listed above
uv map
import into image editor
make changes
save changes
import new texture into poser
if it is for prop textures
follow same steps as listed above
I can give you some links to tutorials with step-by-step instructions on how to do these if you need them
Just sing out

Heya,
One of the most difficult aspects to achieve correctly ~ in Art of any kind ~ digital or otherwise is Shadowing.
The link that follows is a tute to show you how to create Deep Shadow Maps
I'd love to hear/see your thoughts on its content.
(That goes for any of the lurking contingency of the site that happens to drop in)
