WElcome to Animotions and the 3D Comic Forum, Pcat.
Welcome to the madness, PCat. I have gone to your sight and I have to say that you have a good art style along with a pretty cool story.
I was surprised and enjoyed the idea that you could download the comic in Adobe format and that's how I read the first issue. It was a pleasant surrpise to find a new 3D comci out there, and one as good looking as yours.
Having read Heresy and Hat Check Kelly, and now yours, I have to say that each and everyone of them has a distinct style that is more than just eye candy. I'm eagerly awaiting issue two to see where your story will be taking us. Feel free to post any teaser images here.
On another note, perchance you would like to enter, Opeia into a older topic we had here, it's probably on teh second page now, that features 3d Comic girls in a swimsuit. BEG
ask anyone around here, i'm incourrigable.
But keep up the good work on your site and comic, and if you feel yourself stuck, or want to run ideas by anyone, the 3D comics forum is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 8)
My co-hort and webmaster for our future online comics of our own has already been to your page and gotten your link information. If you would like to add a link to our own page, send a letter to ArgoForg here, at animotions.
Geez they come staggering in here like the walking wounded don't they?
40 pages?!?
You got my attention!
I really like Free.
Good pacing on the story, great characters.
Nice logo too. Am I reading too much into it noting that it's a mirror image?
Cav is right. I know of at least two new candidates for the bathing beauty thread.
In any event, welcome.
You've found a group of people who think rendering the same character over and over again is somehow a good thing.
Friends who will nod knowingly when you confess that you talk to your actors and they talk back.
...or when you've been up all night muttering "must render more panels".
It's something like the reverse of a 12 step group here.
So I'm looking forward to more story, maybe a line or two about your technique, work flow.
In short, the only forum on the net of people actually doing something constructive with their expensive libraries of DAZ people.
NVWASIAT.jpg - Save me!
and we're humble too!
Thanks for the welcome and the nice feedback, you seem like a fun crowd
I do hope that 33GEE will render enough interest (pun intended) from the readers so I can motivate myself to continue the story. I feel like the main weakness at this point is my lack of experience with the comic as an artistic media, I'm still very much learning to deal with it.
It's nice to see that there are more people out there who do original stuff.
As for my workflow, let me start by saying that this being my first attempt at making a comic, I haven't really formalized it yet. Having said that, it's very iterative. That's on the story level as on character creation and the individual renders.
I sometimes wish I was one of those people who can sit down and plan the entire piece in detail beforehand but I have to deform it as I go along, like it working a piece of clay. Rather ad hoc, I guess.
From a technical point of view: I use Max to model and to render as much as possible, P5 for posing and the pure character renders. A lot of the panels are mixed, i.e. Max renders used as backgrounds in poser or a poser renders post-worked into a Max pic. I've attempted to achieve some degree of originality in the main characters and environments so I ended up doing quite a lot of scenery- and prop modelling and I've tried to use out-of-the-box objects mainly in the background.
The swimsuit issue... yeah, I'll do some renders asap. Can't help thinking how rough-tough Opeia would react to the idea of posing in a bikini ("You want me to wear WHAT?")

Ahhhh, already his actors speak to him. YOu are now one of us Pcat, there is no cure. Like JJE said, we are the reverse of a 12 step program. Can't wait to see your leading ladies modelling the latest swim gear!

I once tried to do pdf for Heresy, but everything got in the way..including (but not limited) time and sleepiness.
I looked at it (after downloading it) and thought it was rather cool. So two more divas are on the set. You know, considering how mainstream comics have trouble with female characters, we got to wonder what the heck our problem is;)
Maybe I will post kayla or michelle or madison in another tasty swim suit ..but I don't know.
Good luck on your comic dude, and make your you tell Jack (the guy who runs this boat) about your comic, and have it added to the comic list.. This forum is cool, but a link would promote your comic more. _________________ Dana Haywood

I took your advice and attempted to get the site added to the eminent 3D Comic list here... by writing to animotions3d@aol.com including banners and descriptions and what-not. I haven't got a reply or for that matter the site in the list though
Am I just being too impatient or is there something else I'm supposed to do?
Does that mail address go to this mysterious Jack person?

Yep.. but if you like, you can send link information to dana3d2k@cox.net (won't do a bit of good for animotion) but I can put your banner on my site as well.. Unlike Marvel and DC, we indy online guys like to promote each other.. _________________ Dana Haywood

"Yep" it's the right address or "Yep" I'm impatient or "Yep" there's something else I'm supposed to do? j/k Sorry couldn't resist Anyway, thanks for the offer, done.
BTW, people:
I added a e-greeting function to the 33GEE site the other day. After spending much time and energy on hacking it I have found that absolutely nobody use it So go send some e-cards to people will ya?
Click the "Greeting cards" button on the lower right.
Yep as in 'be patient', Steve. I can tell you from personal experience that even instant messages sometimes don't get through 'instantly' to their intended target here.
JDK tends to be pretty busy at times, and it seems like here and R'otica tend to have... well, stages is the best words. Things seem to happen here in a rush and then quiet reigns for a while. My co-conspirator still has a pending Game Review, for instance... rest assured, it will get up soon.
In the meantime, not that you can necessarily check it until the site's up, but DAP has a banner and link already set up for you on our links page for our unveiling! ^_^ _________________ "It is perfectly easy to be original by violating the laws of decency and the canons of good taste."

*chuckles* Yea, kind of like that. Me personally I gave PCat the idea of doing it just to promote his comic.. but in my mind, nothing better then other people putting links up. Why? My link is on animotions.. people go to my site.. they like my comic, they see my links, they go.. ooh, what are these.. baboom..domino marketing. _________________ Dana Haywood

I think there's something wrong on your banner-page... either with the preload srcipt or with the GIFs. They come up on the page as invisible (actually as a 42 byte dot).
Dana:
A tip is to rename your banner, some firewalls and anti-ad pgms filter out images with the word "banner" in the filename. I discovered that the hard way myself
