You can check your coat and guns with the friendly hostess, Maziri if you choose, or not. We're easy - an Armed Bar is a Polite Bar. And I'm bulletproof.
One of the first things you notice is the lack of din for a crowded smoky room - we have conversational dampeners at every table to keep the noise level low enough for comfort, and to keep the music from drowning out your conversations. 'Sides... you're sitting there negotiating a tricky deal for "imported" pleasure-bot shipments with a Rynthian, you don't want just anyone overhearing ya, do ya?
Yeah.. it can be that kinda place, some nights. We gets all types in here. We like all types in here - we have a lot of low friends in even lower places. Comes in handy. ;]
Archway to the left past the foyer leads to the lounge... that's where you can gather together with your friends for private conversation, in comfortable suroundings. Kind of a "British Gentleman's Club" meets "Mos Eisley Cantina". Good place for a long nights game of Dragon Poker, or shooting a round or two of zero-G Billiards.
The long bar along the left wall that curves along the back by the mermaid tank is my hangout... I'm almost always workin' back there unless I'm not. Usually the best place to find me though.
WHat's that you say? The mirror looks a bit funny? That's because it connects to my other establishment: The Downtown Bar. I have to be able to step back and forth as needed.
Ummm... don't try using it as a handy step through though, unless you have the key. There's a trick to it - step through the wrong way and you could wind up on Io or someplace worse.
Center of the main room has the long oval spilloverbar. That's where the touristas tend to gather. Secondary bartender handles the brewmeistering at that one. Spillover from the main bar most likely fills up one of the many tables or booths scattered around.
Self serve counter for when there's no beertender on duty is on the right hand wall by the arch - you can even try the old Death's Head Shooter if you're feeling lucky. Yeah, jje - that is the old 3DC 'Shooter. I took it with when I left. ;]
Archway on the right leads to the Grill... you can get anything you like, but you may not want to eat it. Ahm just sayin' is all. Our "chef" is an Altairian, and you know what they say about them. He works cheap though, and he's an insomniac, so he's always on duty. You don't need a table in the grill, can always order something to your table in the main room.
There's a stage at the back right - that's where our live entertainment sets up on band night. Well.. we say "Live".... some of those guys we're a bit dubious about. But they jam good, no matter what their body temp. There's a juke with some unknown amount of DvD's in it for when there's no entertainment. We keep stuffing things in, but it never seems to hit capacity. You should be able to find some kind of music to your tastes. There's even a private listenin' button so you can have it piped to your table and not have to duel with the other patrons over music or vid choices. Holoscreens - gotta lovem.
No tellin' what you're going to find in here. One things for sure though... you'll see at least one of anything if you stick around long enough.
Rules? No rules. Oh, ok... there's two: 1) Treat everyone in here the way you'd prefer to be treated, and 2) Doan screw with the bar owner. You won't like that much.
That's why there's a hole in the floor and a scorch mark between the main bar and the center bar - the last mug who needed an Invitation to the World left it on his way out...
Other than that, stay roughly within the site ToS and don't eat the other patrons, and I won't bother you much.
.... oh... one last.... don't pee in the potted plants by the Bathrooms - they're Triffids.
Welcome to the Animotions Virtual Bar & Grill, aka Ten Forward. Name yer poison and we'll er... "Make it so". Just so - stirred, in a Gasoline Powered Blender, *not* shaken - we don't go in for those nancyboy conventions. Our secret agent man goes by 30-06, and drinks rotgut neat.
May seem odd having a tavern forum for relaxing and discussions, in addition to General Discussions, but I'm afraid I'm an online bartender at heart. I feel more at home in the confines of a virtual bar than I do almost anywhere's else on the 'Net.
Gotta admit, I can serve a pretty mean virtual martini, if I do say so myself.
GD is good for all sorts of discussions, but this is more a place where you can let your hair down a bit, swap jokes and lies, and not have to worry much about being "on topic" or wether yer threads are "going nowhere" or not. Way I see it in here, if a thread's going someplace, we need to nail one of it's feet to the floor.
But only one.
Pull up a stool or a chair, have a seat, and have a brew. Everyone needs a place to kick back away from the hustle and bustle of forum and gallery life.
Oh yeah.. always fun. ;] _________________ "I'd add a legitimate comment here, but that would mean reading everything, which I have no patience for." - Slynky
One Gorilla Punch coming up. Want a shotglass of Everclear to make it a Gorilla Depthcharge?
By the way... wonder where Dana3k, jje, and the rest of the old regulars are now? Doesn't look like they've made it back since the revamp? _________________ "I'd add a legitimate comment here, but that would mean reading everything, which I have no patience for." - Slynky

British History? I always enjoyed Brit history... but remembering the dates and names were a PITA.

hay hay it's the weekend.....I'm buying the first, second and third round (boss was gone today) but I'm sorry I can't stay out too late, have to get up at 5:30 to go golfing (yes..a.m.)
of course I could just stay up all night, but trying to hit a little round ball with a narraw ass stick when you're tipsy is a pain...especially when you miss

Five centuries of British history.........no problem!
Made Ships
Beat Spanish
Built Empire
Lost Empire
Now We're Screwed.
And the only real dates to remember are that Mrs. Thatcher became PM under Edward VII, not Queen Victoria as is often wrongly stated. And Captain Scott was the first man to walk on the Moon in 1937.
Yes, just tip another bottle of whisky into my I.V.- no ice, thanks very much............
Sorry everyone - IRL hit me hard last week. Back now finally... made it out alive I think. [Who said "How could you tell?" You there - down in front. ]
Self serve while I get sorted out. ;] _________________ "I'd add a legitimate comment here, but that would mean reading everything, which I have no patience for." - Slynky

Of course I am- as an decent history text will confirm, The King asked her to become PM after she personally led the troops to victory over the Zulus at the Battle of Agincourt (also of note, this was the first time the Sten Gun was used in battle, and also where Sir Fred Perry won his Victoria Cross).
I don't know........folks these days don't know nuthin'......

Mind you, if you was a Zulu armed only with spears and machetes, would you want to have a face off with Thatcher? I always thought she looked a bit like Stanley Baker (or was that Stanley Baxter?).
Oh and Ironbear, I might be new behind this bar but I am not wearing the floppy ears and bushy tail okay?!
