OK...Yesterday I went and purchased Val Helsing - The London Mission animated DVD.
I paid nearly 20$ for the DVD, thinking at least a good hour or more for this animated gem.
HEre's the rundown first if you dont know about it -
Van Helsing - The London Mission is a prequel to the movie Van Helsing. It depicts the chase, and battle, of Van Helsing, vs. Mr. Hyde, who is trying to usurp the British Throne by bringing someone important over to the evil side.
It takes place the day prior to when the movie starts, which also has Mr. Hyde in it.
---Now the details---
The "Movie" is only 30 minutes long.
Ive had craps that lasted longer.
But the animation was above average, the story was fun, and a good insight into the movie if you see it first, kind of a stepping stone.
Hugh Jackman, as well as a few other characters, voice the episode.
Is it worthy buying? Yes and No ---
It is not worth buying for the 30 minute flick.
What makes it worthwhile is the extras they include. There is a very long behind the scenes of the movie, showcasing every actor, every effect, every monster in it. Definetly dont want it if you dont like spoilers, as a lot is given away. I could proabably redit it and have the near full movie.
They also have a nic einterview with Jackman included, as well as a few other smaller tidbits, such as the storyboard to screen for 4 scenes which is well done.
What really makes this a selling point?
The fact that they include a free ticket to see Van Helsing in the theatres. Just present the coupon at the theatre, and you're in, no cost.
So for here in Canada, 18$ aprox. to buy the DVD.
Take off the 9$ fee for the free movie ticket, and you paid 9$ for a ton of extras. Well worth the buy.

This "movie" does has some of the anime feel and it shows. In the ending credit one studio stands out: "Production I.G.", and that is the anime studio which produced Ghost in the Shell the movie(I and II), and G.I.T.S. TV series, the other animation studio(Sunwoo Entertainment) and production crew are Korean.
