Can someone give me a relatively detailed summary of what happened in the last couple episodes of last season, please? I missed them, both on their original airdate and in rerun, and after watching the season premiere, I'm confused as hell.
For reference, the last episode I saw last season was the one where that creepy girl locked Lana in a plexiglass box. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

well there was like this girl you see, and she got in like some trouble from these like really bad men, and then this boy that was like super strong came and saved the girl and she was like totally thankful and everything...wait...or was that a different show...oh that's right I don't even watch this show...sorry

Well, my memory is a little rough but here goes...
Chloe, using her cell phone, managed to record an incriminating conversation with Lionel Luthor where he admitted to having his parents murdered. Lionel got the conversation erased, but Chloe had it backed up. This made her key witness when Lionel got arrested by Lex who's finally gathered enough evidence for a case. Lionel enters prison and shaves off all his hair while awaiting trial. Chloe gets moved to a safe house, but it blows up and she is presumed dead.
Jor-El tells Jonathan that Clark must fulfill his destiny. Jonathan doesn't agree.
Pete's family gets a job outside town and Pete leaves because even though he knows Clark's secret, the writers could never figure out what to do with him.
Lana gets an offer to go to Art School in Paris and takes it, saying goodbye to Smallville at least for a while.
Clark discovers Lex's has been investigating him. Things get ugly.
A blond girl with superpowers calling herself Kara shows up, claiming to be from Krypton. Using all the events going on around him, she tries to convince Clark that Earth is not the place for him and convinces him to come to the cave. We find out that she's actually a runaway who's been physically manipulated somehow by Jor-El and she goes poof, but before Clark can leave, he gets sucked into the cave wall and vanishes.
Jonathan Kent has a heart attack and winds up in the hospital in a coma.
The Talon closes.
After Lionel enters prison, Lex is sipping on brandy which turns out to be poisoned. He falls though a conviently placed glass table and does not look well.
(I was disappointed in the previous season, though this season is picking up, read on)

Season 4 opener
3 months later....
A girl is driving into town at night. Turns out this is Chloe's cousin Lois Lane, who's there to find out more about her cousin's death, hopefully through Chloe's friend Clark Kent, whoever he is. She has an accident and discovers a naked amnesiatic stranger who's just appeared in a flash of lightning in the middle of nowhere. (Hi Clark!) She manages to talk him into letting her take him to the nearest hospital after wrapping him up in a red cape, I mean blanket .
(BTW: Lois is really well written. I like her)
Lex is in Egypt hunting artifacts. We find out that he needs his blood purified every few hours due to the lingering effects of the poison. By rights he shouldn't even be alive.
Lana is still in Paris. She has a new boyfriend. They are sickeningly cute together. Moving on...
At the hospital, Martha is reading to the comatose Jonathan Kent. He hasn't shown any signs of improvement in 3 months. Things don't look good. In another room, Clark decides he doesn't want to stay there anymore and literally lifts Lois out of the way. As he leaves, he's spotted by Martha who is ecstatic to see him, but he doesn't recognize him at all. Lois finally learns that her mysterious stranger IS Clark and follows off to the Kent farm.
Clark continues to deny any knowledge of Martha, Jonathan, and the farm. He says he's waiting for a sign to start fulfilling his destiny.
Lex's artifact breaks. Inside is a weird crystal.
Just then, halfway around the world, Clark snaps to attention, and says it's time, and flies away. (Yes, "flies". It was cool )
Moving at about Mach, he reaches Lex's plane
(Pilot 1 [looking at radar]: What is that? A bird?
Pilot 2: Is it a plane? )
Clark reaches the plane and tears a door off. The crystal is drawn out of Lex's hand and through the bulkhead into Clarks. Clark leaves before Lex can get a good view of what happened.
Lois catches up with Martha too late to see Clark. They talk a bit. Lois leaves.
Lana's boyfriend gets her special permission to stay after hours at one of the museums to do a rubbing of a carved relief depicting an ancient heroine or something. We see a kryptonian symbol on it, which starts glowing, and presumably possesses Lana, who wakes up much later in her own room with no idea how she got there or how she got this weird tattoo on her back.
Bridgette Crosby (Margo Kidder as psycho woman) visits Martha Kent. She claims to be working for Swann and is aware of the situation. She comes bringing something that might help, namely a chunk of black kryptonite.
Clark returns with the crystal, goes to the cave, opens a mystery back wall and puts the crystal in a setting that does some cool looking yet mysterious stuff. Martha confronts Clark. She is forced to bring out the black kryptonite and Clark splits into two people that fight for control of Clark (one is an aspect of Clark, the other an aspect of Jor-El) The Clark side wins and regains control of Clark's body, and at that moment, with Jor-El's influence gone, Jonathan Kent wakes with a start. Clark says he remembers everything he did while under Jor-El's influence, which means he knows what he's capable of even though it worries him.
Lois managed to wrangle an interview with Lionel Luthor in prison. He claims to know nothing of how Chloe died.
Clark finally gets a chance to talk with Lois as himself. They run into each other at Chloe's grave. Just as they're leaving, Clark looks into the grave with his X-ray vision and sees the coffin is empty. This convinces him Chloe must still be alive. (weak logic I know, but what the hey, the rest of the episode was pretty good)

I loved that dialogue between the two pilots. That and the cool way they made Kal-El take off made the fact that they had him fly bearable.

Sorry, GlitchGirl, I get distracted easily.
So Smallville doesn't suck? I watched it for the first two seasons (more or less) and got irritated by its "Dawson's Creek" feel. That, plus the show's creators seemed to really limit themselves by stating that Clark would never become Superman. It just seemed like there would be a lot of angst and nowhere to go.
Now, let me get back to surfing for Kristin Kreuk pictures. (Hey, I'm nothing if not consistent.)
Remember GlitchGirl....we are the weaker sex....B.B. and I just seem to be the weaker of the weaker, show us a pic of a pretty girl and we lose all train of thought, put something shiney in the pic and forget it...you know like a nice piece of jewelry...nice and metallic, with the lights reflecting off of it...the pretty swirls and colors....makes it so mesmorizing the way it glimmers and bounces off the smooth surfaces.....so pretty...so precious....we loves the precious...
