This is a test render of a pic I just started working on. Notice how torn up the wing geometry looks. I can't seem to fix it.
Those wings BTW are the Dreamer Wings from Darkworld Designs purchased back when I still had P4 on my machine. I tried the trick where you attach the color map to the displacement channel at .01 and rendered in Firefly with displacement on. This time though it doesn't seem to be working. (Had the same trouble with the Mehndi Wood Elf hair - the displacement fix doesn't fix it)
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help. _________________ "Flash, quit heckling the supervillain!" - Green Lantern

| Sorry, I am a super newbie at P5 and I know a lot of the people here are P4 users. Good luck fixing it .. It is kind of an interesting effect in this instance though. |

That's okay GhostofMacbeth, while it's a cool effect, it isn't quit what I want for this pic.
I'll keep hunting around for suggestions I guess. Fingers crossed. _________________ "Flash, quit heckling the supervillain!" - Green Lantern

I don't have the wings, but I did have this problem with a cape a while ago. I know that to fix it, I had to do a combination of the displacement node thing and one other tweak... but I can't remember what the other tweak was. I have a commission to finish up today, but once I'm done that I'll load up that cape again and see if I can remember. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

Anything you can come up with I'm willing to give it a shot Jim. Thanks. _________________ "Flash, quit heckling the supervillain!" - Green Lantern

Sorry it took me so long. The solution that worked for my cape problem was instead of plugging the texture into the displacement node was to create a MATH > SIMPLE_COLOUR node set to white and plug that into the displacement node at a value of 0.01. Hopefully that will work for you. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

Good news - it appears to work on a couple of models that I've been having that problem with. (Like the Wood Elf hair I can use it again! )
Bad news - it doesn't work with those wings.
(BTW: If I increase the displacement, those dark lines in the center of the wings stay, and the endges start getting werid - this was the best looking of various settings I experimented with)
But its not a total loss, I now have a fix for most of the models that were giving me that trouble which means they're usable again, and that's always a good thing.
Thanks Jim. Going to try to contact the creator to see what they say. _________________ "Flash, quit heckling the supervillain!" - Green Lantern

Sorry it didn't solve the wing problem -- at least it helped in other ways. Have you tried using the transmap as a displacement map? _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS
