|
|
Okay, here's my dilemma... I have $10 in voucher balance and I don't want it to go to waste. However, I don't really see anything in the DAZ store that I just have to have. There a couple things that look cool, but I know they're things I'll end up using once or twice, then never touch again. So, with that in mind, I'm turning to my friends and neighbours at AniMotions. Got a DAZ product you love/are amazed with/hug and squeeze and love forever? Lemme know about it and let me know what's so great about it. I'd like to keep the price under $30, `cause I don't want to spend more than $20 at this point (I've already spent about $50 on Poser stuff in the past few weeks, plus Curious Labs should come collecting for P6 in the next couple weeks).
Don't limit yourself to comic and fantasy type stuff, either. Thanks in advance for the input. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

Do you already have any other DAZ products? Such as Victoria or Michael...
In my opinion, some of the best things at DAZ are the clothing meshes. As a stand alone product they don't often come with lots of textures (usually 2 or 3) but they're so versatile, you can make your own textures and transparency maps for them, and do all sorts of interesting things.
The way most of them are constructed also makes it very easy to bring the obj files into a modelor and make further changes to the meshes, then bring them into the Cloth room and do some dynamic stuff with them. |

Oh, I have plenty of DAZ stuff already -- I've been at this for nearly five years. I don't generally buy clothing from DAZ, however, as I've found that merchants elsehwere produce good quality stuff but unlike DAZ actually include full body morphs to match the figure they're made for. Some DAZ merchants have started doing this, like Xena and the people who did a lot of the Aiko clothing. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

Did you get the UrbanSprawl outdoor scene figure, from StoneMason yet?
Its a wonderful piece, like all of Stonemason's work, its heavilly detailed, lights for time of day (But no heavy night lights), but overall, for low quality backgrounds, high quality prints, or high quality animations, its truly fantastic. I just recnetly finished a piece for the office green-screening individuals from work into an animated Stonemason urban sprawl scene. |

Anything made by Stone Mason will not be wasted. The Alley is almost as good as Urban Sprawl, but I think it's priced a little lower.
If you don't already have it, I also strongly recommend "The Hive" by Davo. It's the most EVIL Poser environment ever. |

Ah, yes. I know what you mean about the lack of morphs with much of the DAZ clothing. I guess I don't notice that as much since I do a lot of the clothes fitting in the cloth room.
I really only have a couple of "DAZ Originals" when it comes down to it. The few things I've purchased have come from 3rd party venders.
Speaking of environments, I was browsing through their catalog the other day and saw "The Study" for the the first time. I can't remember off hand who's work that is, bit I thought that would make a nice addition to my library, myself. |

I'm saving up for the Aiko Starter Pack. $25ish.
The new Catsuit looks pretty cool for SuperHero stuff.
This is really impossible mission without know what you already have. |

I know, but I was mainly looking for unique stuff that isn't quite as commonly seen/discussed.
I have been looking at Urban Sprawl, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much right now. I just paid the Visa bill with my new computer on it and Curious Labs will be hitting me up for the P6 bill in the next week or two. Maybe the Back Alley is better for now, since it will only be $12. I've also been looking at the Klank robot. I don't know, maybe I'm losing interest in Poser, but it seems like 99% of products I look at now I think look kinda cool, but I would never use them. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

| I know. Been a while since I bought something. Even if I see something " sort-a' " cool I wonder to myself how hard it would be to make it from scratch. |

You know, now I just may have to buy it. I got this idea in my head of a Humphrey Bogart type PI investigating something and saying "Well ma'am, I guess I'll have to consult the ostrich." Cut to a shot of a smokey bar where the PI talks over a couple glasses of whiskey to an ostrich wearing a fedora... _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS
