Check it out -- looks a hell of a lot better than I thought he would! This is Brendan Routh as Superman from the movie currently shooting in Australia, directed by Bryan Singer.

I didn't want to link to the pic directly, so you'll have to scroll down a bit to the article, then click for the full version.

Heh - If you check my website out for most of my Superman pictures, maybe even some that are still here (Full Moon Flight Superman comes to mind), I had started doing the subdued blue, and more scarlet looking red for the capes and booties.
I should sue lol =).

But I will say, I hate the emblem. Not the fact that its a different shape or color, or even that its superimposed on his costume, but that its so small and high up. Just doesnt look good.

Yeah, I've been doing the more subdued colours on most of my superhero stuff for years now, too. The size of the emblem is actually pretty close to the size it was in the Christopher Reeve movies. At least in the first two -- I don't have III or IV to be able to compare. My only real complaint about the look of the suit is that the reds are almost TOO dark. On the symbol at the very least the red should stand out more, kind of like how in Birthright they said that one reason for having the symbol on his chest and having it such bright colours was to take attention away from his face, seeing as his only real disguise is a different hairstyle and a pair of glasses.

For those who didn't get to see the image before just about every site that posted them went down under the strain... Enjoy.

I really like the design of the "S", the way the bevels curve around to form the upper and lower faces of the letter, but as for the rest of it? I think he looks a bit ridiculous. Sorry.

I always said, they dont need a ripped dude to play supes. Chris wasnt ripped, and he made Superman absolutely perfect.
Supes didnt get his strength because of muscles. So he doesnt need to be ripped IMO

I agree with Aremis. I mean, think of the physics involved in Superman being "ripped." The guy can juggle buses with little to no effort, so what kind of weight would he have to bench press to build massive muscles? The moon?

Gave my opinion here.

I agree. I always felt Supes should a little weak actually since being "super" he would never get a real workout on Earth.

I don't mind the Darker red either.

But I'm not too happy with the casting choice. I think he looks like a young Ken Whal.

That's a another thing. I don't like a the fact that we have a 25 year old Superman. I think that's a little young. Supes should always be at least 30.

I'd prefer a brighter red for the costume, but I'm just happy it isn't Nicholas Cage.

It would be difficult to take him as Superman after "Raising Arizona" and some of his other movies.

I personally like the darker red in general but not for superman .. he is pure primary colors. The pic looks okay in general. He could be a bit more buff. I think you sort of have to have a be the paragon of health for whatever era he is in. Not super huge but he could be just a touch more ripped. I have never been too much of a superman fan in general (much more of a batman fan) though.

i like to see a buff supes too, dont mind the colors, yes the emblem looks odd . . . Now Dean Caine had a good superman physique but it would be fun to see a really buff kill you dead with his biceps alone supes. i also like the build of the guy in the fan films (Grayson and Worlds Finest)

The 10th entry in Bryan Singer's video journal discusses the work they are doing to get Superman to fly, and the new 3D rig they have made.
