I need some help, so i am appealing to your good nature.
I am an independent film maker who has filmed a low budget vampire movie called "The Vampire Conspiracy"
We are in post production and we are trying to get into the Toronto International Film Festival. - Considering I live in Toronto, and I am a new director (they have a new director series) and there is a shortage of Canadian films, there is a good chance.
The Bad News - The problem is I need some cool scary footage and there is no budget so this is volunteer
The Good news is that is is a feature film and if I can use your stuff - it's a feature film credit with possible screening at one of the top five festivals in the world.
I do have someone volunteering in a digital capacity and he is amazing, it's just that we need to add flavor to this and I fear he won't have enough time.
In essence I need.
Gargoyles
Mansions/Castles
Moons over mansions/ castles
Bats in belfreys
Even silhouettes of vampires in stone hallways.
This was shot in HD so the seeing on screen will be quite lovely.
There are two pressing deadlines...
One is May 31 - to get a screening copy to the Film Festival office, the other is Aug 1st for the final screen film.
For the May deadline it does not have to be a final render,
For the Aug deadline it does.
You will certainly get screen credit, a copy of the DVD and any promotional material we create.
If you are interested in helping, then by all means - put together what you are proficient in and send me a .mov file and a full rez still.
Now now, Hasdrubal. Can always ignore the thread if there's no interest in it. _________________ "I'd add a legitimate comment here, but that would mean reading everything, which I have no patience for." - Slynky

Actually the thread amuses me Bear.
He's got a little more than two weeks to meet his deadline. It could take up to a week to ship a disk to his location, leaving about a week for rendering time.
One may never know for sure, but if I were to guess, he probably wasn't paying his animation staffers already. The movie business is full of people like that.

I fully agree with you Has - My team has two movies - 1 short, one full length - in the same festival. My second year attending, and I heard some serious things about some of the film makers and how they rip people off, including investors.
He should be going through proper chanels to hire people to do this work, if he is legit, which I personally doubt. No film-maker in his right mind would post an annonymous message like that on a website, let alone with a two week timeline. _________________ =============================

*snicker* You're making the unwarranted assumption that some film makers are in their right minds. ;] _________________ "I'd add a legitimate comment here, but that would mean reading everything, which I have no patience for." - Slynky

Well, kids, here are some responds to your posts.
It is a small independent film, not a studio piece which I funded myself. Everyone volunteered for it.
The post certainly wasn't anonymous, as my name and email are right on the post.
As far as the two week deadline, that is just for the screening copy. The final deadline is Aug 15.
I never made any illusions to what this was and that I was trying to fool anyone. I make mention of appealing to your good natures and that it was small and independent.
Please also remember, I'm not asking for Spiderman 3 here, I was asking if you guys wanted to help out, I would be very happy to use you.
You're going to have to keep something in mind here: this community tends to see a LOT of scam artists who want volunteer work for free on projects. Not just this site - this entire community of sites. Not saying you're one: just that the majority of those are phrased almost exactly as your post was.
That makes some of the skepticism you're seeing understandable, I'd say. People get pretty gunshy about posts that involve "work for project credits on short deadline". Naturaly, a few people may react badly.
There's ways around that: you can run the post past me or another admin first next time, and offer us a way to verify your credentials and that you're legit. That way we can "endorse" your advertisement to be to the best of our knowledge to be on the level.
And I'll phrase any such endorsement in just that fashion: "to the best that I can ascertain" unless I know you and can vouch for you.
Always best, if you can, to build some sort of presence around the community before soliciting free work. That way people know you're not trying to scam them, and you won't neccessarily get a histile reaction like Haasrubles, or a skeptical one like Aremis' and mine.
What's done is done, let it go. Next time, if there's a next time, you'll know. _________________ "I'd add a legitimate comment here, but that would mean reading everything, which I have no patience for." - Slynky
