I just downloaded a couple of cool Starblazer's ship meshes, that were made in lightwave. I stumbled upon a comment that these can be converted to use in Poser. Can anybody tell me how to do this. These ships will make some great renders of a long lost anime show.
Thanks.

To convert from lwo, you need to open it up in Lightwave and export as an obj. Then import into Poser and save as a prop.

Actually if they were made with Lightwave 5.0 or older Poser can import the LWO files directly. 8-)

Having trouble exporting the image out of lightwave 8. Keeps saying something about only allowing 400 points to a layer. I'll keep plugin away at it. Thanks for all the quick answers.

That's the Demo version limit if you don't have a dongle key and licence.

You can also try Deep Exploration. It converst most formats for 30 days as I recal.

Trying the Deep Exploration route. I exported the files as wavefront obj files, so I can use them in Poser 6, but I don't find they render very nice, it's like they're missing pieces. And if I use the firefly render, it locks up my system. Oh well, ya win some, ya lose some.

That's weird. If you can post some pictures maybe we can figure out what went wrong.

Or link me to the files. I use Lw7.5.

unfortunately, I am unable to post the pics as I have never posted on a public server. Everything is on my hard drive. E-mail is about the best that I can do. On your profile, you have a website mentioned, what if I sent the pics to you there?

Ok. But my email can't handle really big files.

Not too bad. The model just isn't that good to start with. There are a LOT of inverted normals in the hull, and it's a wee too heavy to load in Poser as a single piece anyway.

It looks like it was modeled in another package and just imported to Lightwave. Way too many tri's fro LW. I suspect 3DS.

You can try flipping the normals in 3DX, but there's a lot of polys in the wrong direction no matter what you do.

In P5 you can render both sides of the polygon. So it might actually render.

I bow to the knowledge of one who is greater than I.
I'm using poser 6,can this render both sides of the polygon, and how do I do this. If this doesn't work, I think I will stick with my traditional work.
