Anyone have a relatively simple way to create facial expression? I've been trying to create a decent snarling expression and it's just a bloody pain to do it!

Also, is there a way to save only certain dials in a pose? I'd like to be able to save just the dials for a given expression so I won't have to go and re-tweak all the other dials which define the character's face shape.

Which figure model are you using? Mike 3 has dials for right and left sneer. You might try a combination of the left and right. (Assuming you bought the facial morphs)

Usually if you save the expression or the entire pose (with morph channels) to the library, you shouldn't have to do any additional tweeking.

There is also the option of exporting the morphed head, and then using the exported object as a new morph to inject into a second figure without any other additional morphs.

Saving stuff in the "Expression/Face" library works best for stuff like that. (I think they changed the name between P4-5) though it will save all the facial shaping morphs as well. If you're feeling brave you COULD open the FC2 file in a text editor and remove all the facisl shaping stuff and leave the expression stuff.

Saving your facial shaping morphs as one morph may be your best bet to start with. Once you get the face the way you want it in a neutral position (no expression), "Spawn Morph Target" and then reset all the dials. By turning the new dial you should get the same results as the entire dialset you had before and then you can add and save facial expressions with only one faciall shaping morph to worry about. If you save the facial expression in the Library and then try to apply it to another character that doesn't have your custom spawned face morph, it won't apply that data, so you can use it on multiple characters.

As for creating faces, just keep tweaking the dials, sometimes into the negatives, until something looks right. :)

Hi - you can save the relevant expression morphs by:
1 - click to save expression
2 - in the dialogue box that appears (the one where you name the expression) click on the "select subset" button.
3 - select the expression morphs that you want to save (and deselect all the face shaping morphs) in the window that appears
4 - click ok and then save the expression

Hope this helps
