Hey,I was wondering if anbody knows of free character modeling programs that people can practice with until they can afford good stuff such as listed here on this site.

Well, specifically for character creation? Dont know any. For standard 3D creating, props, figures, clothes etc, I will assume you are using a Windows based machine, and say get Anim8tor - Its free, and its used hugely by many in the community, for modeling and for morph making. _________________ =============================

I use anim8or, personally. I used it for all of the Hawkman props and Robin outfit I made recently. I own Silo, but tend to fall back on anim8or fairly regularly. I probably will continue to do so until I get more familiar with Silo, lol.
If you do decide to use anim8or there is one thing you have to remember. If you are going to import an obj that has been exported by Poser you must either delete the .mtl file or run the obj through uvmapper. Poser generates .mtl files that anim8or doesn't like.
