Promoting the sale of online adult/erotic comics

Hi there...as a novice adult/erotic comic writer I am interested in how to best go about promoting the work of me and my artist partners. I know that there are hundreds of sites, groups, and boards out there that reflect the subjects that I like to write about, but I am somewhat reluctant to just drop in and shamelessly promote the comics that we are selling. What is the best way to advertise my comics, my artists, and my site without coming across as a spamming jerk, and without having to pay for said advertising?

I honestly cant say myself. I would say that before spamming news groups and forums, you should check first to see if they even deal in the content you promote. Always read their Terms of Service.

In the case of Animotions - Your message would be deleted without even a blink. That kind of content is not acceptable, not even under promotion thoughts.

My recomendation, if you are serious about your work, is pay the money to advertise. Free only goes so far. Paid advertising, is money well spent. you have to spend to make money. Otherwise, you are in the wrong business. Web Comics, Adult or otherwise, are a dime a dozen. I read about 12 different comic strips online a day. Most are gone in less than 6 series because they dont put the effort in, and dont bother properly marketing their product.

You make a number of good points. I am a relative newcomer to this field and as such am trying to figure these types of thing out as I go along. I will do some more research and see what course is best for me and my comics. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. I appreciate it very much.
