That's a shame they can only take PAL format video. I could probably edit a disc in that format, but you can't buy a video player machine to test play a PAL video in the US.
What kind of material are they looking for? Are they looking for stuff that's entertaining, or artsy-fartsy pretentious political statements about gay cowboys eating pudding?
I only ask because there are too many competetions and festivals that seem to want the latter. |

It might work, but changing video from NTSC format with a nominal 30 frame per second, to a 25 frame per second rate will probably create some strange effects. At the minimun I would expect to lose a few frames with the motion being a little more jerky. I'm also not certain how my software will handle the difference in screen dimensions. I have a feeling that making a PAL video my require re-rendering in my 3D program.
I'll probably try some experiments with my video editing program tomarrow to see what happens. I'm somewhat curious about the process now. |

I've never used my AVID program for PAL before, but now I know how to do it. I converted my master video to an .avi with 720 X576 screen dimensions and a speed of 25 frames per second.
I used the LEAD-MJPEG codec for video compression, and IMA ADPCM for audio compression. Do you know if those are commonly used codecs on most computers or not? I'm not certain everyone would have them. |
