The "Batman and Robin" series

This pertains to the "Batman and Robin" series by Frank MIller/Jim Lee/Scott Williams/Alex Sinclair

First off, I must admit I first bought #3 of the series in the comic store because of Black Canary doing the splits in full Jim Lee sexploitation....just so it's known why I came onto the series.

Palmers here inspired me to read more mainstream stuff....so I'm trying

Anyways...

I'm envisioning the next Batman movie being made by Quentin Tarantino and Frank Miller. The opening scene is the Batmobile speeding towards Gotham downtown. On the front of the Batmobile is the Joker's severed head, rotting hair and flesh flapping in the wind as the Batmobile races to the next spot where batman will beat the living sh*t out of the next villain who gets in the way of his personal vendetta against those he deems as 'unlawful'.

To me, Frank Miller's vision of Batman is like Hamlet played by Ted Bundy. It's the opposite extreme of the 1960's TV show.

I guess what my rambling is leading onto is this question:

What is your favorite version of Batman and Robin? Do you totally disagree with my take on Frank Miller's take on Batty and Bird Boy?

It is kind of a weird thing for sure. I enjoy it to a degree but I have my reservations. I am treating it more like an Elseworlds kind of thing but it is interesting to see it develop.

I am not sure if I have a favorite version of Batman. To me he is fairly iconic and hard to pin down since there are so many varying books starring him. If I had to say, I would probably go with the portrayal in the Batman Animated series, etc. Not necessarily the art style (which I do like) but the characterization of him is pretty spot on to me. Thoughtful, able to figure things out but still able to kick some ass if needed to. Dark but still able to crack a half smile. Never goes too far in his pursuit of the law etc.

I like the 'Animated Series" Batman as well.

Only just found this thread. Thanks for the credit or blame, Finister.

Frank Miller wrote three of the best superhero comics I've ever read, and Ronin too. All-Star Batman & Robin though, so far, is like someone pastiching Miller badly. Big disappointment.

It's possible, I suppose, that he could pull some big turnaround revelation as in Hard Boiled, but if he's going to, he's leaving it a bit late. Even I might have stopped reading by then.

Yeah .. as much as I like the earlier stuff the last few things have been ... eh. I am begining to wonder if he has lost his flair. Maybe he was just in it for the paycheck.

The animated series was set in the fourties with no Robin. Bruce Wayne is a celebrity playboy who slips out of the back door to fight crime, leaving his date flat. He's in tight with commissioner Gordon but greatly despised by big cop Bullock who tries to pin every bad thing on Batman. The Joker is the main villian. Some episodes featured Twoface and GreyGhost. He has a interesting relationship with Catwoman. She's in love with Batman but he has to withhold the law and throw her in the clink..

I don't like it, sorry to say, I'm picking it up...because I get my books through the mail (I'm in Japan) and don't want to miss when it gets good...I feel the same way on All Star Superman. I think both books suck.
The Current Batman in comics to me is perfect, I like his relationship with Dick, Tim and yes even Jason.

The one I'm referring to is the Animated movie cartoon series.
I agree with you, I prefer him with Robin.
