Hi. I'm an indie Hip Hop artist. My music is on myspace as BRIX (myspace.com/brix). I want to soon shoot a music video next year and am looking for investors (wait wait) and it was recommended I storyboard the video concept and have it drawn. Well, I can't draw.. lol. Anyhow, a friend of mine recommended I buy this game called 'the movies' where we could produce a trailer to go along with the story board (which isn't drawn yet so we're ahead of ourselves) but all to aide in the presentation package to seek an investor for an actual music video.. part real and part anime (final fantasy ish). So I've been scouring the music schools as well as the design schools looking for talented persons who'd be interested in being involved in such an endeavor. We found a couple people on myspace and craigslist that do models to doing some forms of animation directing, (such would be for the trailer).. We don't really have a budget to hire a company to do this professionally (hence why we're interested in investors/sponsors for the the video - maybe clothing sponsors or things we can plug)... the video itself is a merge of reality and fantasy.
What I am posting here about is I recall POSER from high school (way back, version 2 I think) I used and played with. It's come a long way. Back then I had a copy of ray dream studio. It's been years! I remembered the software and how realistic it can be. So I'm looking to ask if anyone here knows where I could find or direct me to perhaps a list or online spot where I might find people interested specifically in collaborating on a project such as this.. their artwork being displayed to not only the music industry labels and investors and sponsors (higher profile, looking even at approaching a few car companies) but also video producers and such..
Please no bashing, I realize there is investing that must go into my career but I do this because I love my art and we're all artists.. so I'm here looking to be redirected to a good source of artists that might be interested in a collaborative project.
An application you might be interested in checking out is the free Daz Studio from www.daz3d.com
You're right: poser, similar applications, and content for them *have* come a LONG way since Poser 2. [I started out on Poser 2 myself back in 1996 or so]
I'm not sure where to direct you on finding people who might be interested in a collaboration.
Here is as good a place as most: we have a lot of people who're pretty talented. I'll leave it up to them if they're interested.
They're not very Poser Friendly at CGTalk, but there's a lot of people who do some fantastic animation work, and quite a few looking to stretch their learning or talents on projects, even if the project doesn't pay.
However: you *always* run a risk of hostility when there's an implication that you're looking for people to do work for hire for you. A situation like this where you're doing a project you hope to eventually market and you're looking for people to help for free may draw you some criticism.
I'm going to suggest that anyone who isn't interested just ignore this thread, rather than flame it.
You're on your own at CGTalk. ;] _________________ "I'd add a legitimate comment here, but that would mean reading everything, which I have no patience for." - Slynky

Thanks for the direction. I'm not looking to make any money off of it really though (with the investors) they'd be paying to produce the video and probably pay the people who we're involved in putting together the package. I know I won't make any money off the video, I get a few pennies a cd, I'm not famouse by far. Blah. It was more for the art.. I like the art part the business people do the business part, you know what I mean? It's more like me looking to see a vision come to life.
Well, good luck. Maybe you'll get some people who're interested.
Sounds like an interesting project.
Do you have a website, and any sample story boards you can show? _________________ "I'd add a legitimate comment here, but that would mean reading everything, which I have no patience for." - Slynky

I would also recomend Renderosity. In my years there, I have collaborated with many a great artist, scenic background painters, writers, and even some great cameramen that I have thrown work to and shared projects with.
The site may not be dedicated to film, but many of the artists there do have careers outside the 3D genre. _________________ =============================
