I always have had a sort of "heroic" streak to my fantasy life. I grew up with Wonder Woman on TV and Princess Leia in the movies and so on, so I had a penchant for action-based heroines from an early age. Characters most closely based on myself tend to have powers related to technology or creation of some kind (illusion or energy creation a la Green Lantern). Costume designs tend towards the utilitarian or classic yet cool looking (I hope), with emphasis on mobility because I've worn heels and I've worn swimsuits that rode up in the back and let me tell you, they aren't comfortable to stand in, let alone take on anything in.
My avatar over there is one I created back in college with Technopathic powers (controls electronics with her mind) and she's still fun to write about. She was inspired by the fact that technology tended to freak out around me alot (and still does) and do things that weren't always bad, not always good, and sometimes something they weren't designed to do in the first place. There have been other characters, sometimes in stories, sometimes in local RPG games, and sometimes characters that never make it out of my head.
As for real life heroics... well I can't really claim any unless you could rescuing my cat twice. Still, I do try to be helpful and do the right thing most of time, even if that ideal is considered out of fashion these days. Someone's got to do it I guess. _________________ "Flash, quit heckling the supervillain!" - Green Lantern

I approve your avatar's style heartily!
They never make superman run round with a wedgie up his crack do they? (although in fairness I don't imagine that his tights + pants combo is comfy either.)
Heels are OK if they are teamed with platforms - I have got some corking Judge Dredd type sandals that I can run in - well enough to catch a bus anyway.
For you and other heroines I recommend the Action Heroine's Handbook (isbn1-931686-68-8), it has chapters written by the stuntwoman on the Matrix and includes information on how to run in high heels and a bustier, how to fend off the undead, and - my personal favourite - how to choke a man with your bare thighs.
Anybody else out there with heroic aspirations? _________________ A broken stereotype is a beautiful thing
