It is rough to get people to vote. I think it is a bit easier with the poll but, even then, I am not sure people are checking this.

One thing I remember from some Renderosity member challenges a few years ago was posting an introductory and summary pic to the galleries, which is where most peope went, that referred people to the forum entry for the contest. The intro pic would set the contest start, typically with just text on a black background, and a reference/URL in the comments to the forum thread about the contest. Then the summary at the end would be similar. In this case it could also have a URL to the vote thread in the forum.
