Any one who doesn't get in on this is crazy.
http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=2635
RRM3 and RRV3 take M3's textures, and have almost all the morph that default M3's morph pack comes with. There's no injection needed.
Plus they are under 25000 polygons Vs the Full unimesh's 72000+.
And they are NOT alone.
I paid almost $40 for this set, so you are getting an AWESOME deal!

IT's always great to see DAZ giving away what one paid full price for... this market has to be the weirdest market... it's like Rattler paid for all the wood for his house and now the lumber company is offering all the lumber free to everyone.
The folks who support DAZ and E-frontier the most get screwed the most and the newbies who don't put a dime into the market get everything for free.
It's a very weird market. |

Well, I'm not really complaing. I've gotten years of good use out the Reduced Res Figures.
If anything, I'm hoping lots of people jump on this so I can start making characters specifically for the RR figures. Until now... not to many people have had them and I've been stuck working with bloated but free M3 and V3.
Plus their price was actually higher than M3 and V3 with morphs. People looked at them and said...."less polygons, more money. Bleach!"
I actually consider less polygons to be worth more.
THere is one majoe anoyance with the RR figures. DAZ messed up the UV seam on the back a little.
Now it might actually be worth fixing. |

The only quality that's advancing in the Poser market is coming from the individual vendor basically because they're taking the pro level already out there and offering it for a cheap price to Poser/DAZ Studio customers.
DAZ and E-Frontier and Renderosity who are making the most from this market aren't really bringing anything new... they bring something already old and established from the pro arena into the Poser arena and call it a 'new' thing.
Since they bring nothing new they have to think of 'new' ways to keep an artificial buzz alive about a thing they really have no control over since it's mostly dependent upon the vendors.
DAZ releases V4 but can only survive if vendors support her. They've realized that if E-Frontier dumps Poser they're screwed so they're continuing to work on DAZ Studio but it's really nothing stellar being put forth... it's Poser4 DAZ Pro basically. Poser 7 is a fiasco... Poser 6 that doesn't work basically. So E-Frontier releases their generation 2 people which are basically the same as their generation 1 people but with different mapping so you gotta buy everyhting new....new... nothing new...
Only the vendors are offering anything new to the customer and like the record industry pimping musicians, DAZ and e-frontier are whoring out vendors to keep the two main companies alive who are offering nothing substantial themselves that the vendors couldn't offer on their own.
Stonemason and Uzilite and As Shanim... all their stuff works in Poser 6 and I don't need DAZ or e-frontier to peddle those vendors goods to me... if only those vendors knew it. I don't need Poser 8 nor DAZ Studio 1.8.3.6.7.8.9
So... if you have nothing to offer what does one do? Give stuff away to keep up interest.
Osity gets knocked a lot but from a buyer's point of view, they're the one site that constantly upgrades to meet buyer's needs and is actually acting like a company competing. Content Paradise is a buyer's nightmare. DAZ takes a step forward then a step back... they constructed a forum so they didn't have to actually interface with their customers... it's kind of like doctors do in hospitals... having the patient's medical records at the nurse's station so they don't have to converse with THEIR patients... DAZ has avoidance down to an art... then they offer stuff for free that last week was full price and the gizmos slobber all over every move they make reinforcing the unreality of it all.
It makes real buyers want to be more aggressive and make private bids of their own to vendors.
Not impressed with V3 and M3 RR I bought with my own money. Like V4 they have all ten thousand morphs intalled which kind of makes their "Reduced Resolution" use negligible since having 3 or 4 V3 RR's is going to weigh in more than a scene with 8 regular V3's. Somehow I think DAZ just doesn't understand what the purpose of a reduced resolution figure is if they're throwing in 20 megs of morphs I'll never use on a distantly rendered figure.
It's half assing everything they do best as does e-frontier throwing a billion polygons on a face of a Poser person with shoulders that bend like twigs.
At least DAZ and E-Frontier aren't making customers bend over and apply their own lube like Cornucopia3d is doing... guess it could always be worse.
Only the vendors seem to have a clue in this market |

Well. That's an interesting take.
I think you're argument is 100% on target with reguard to V4. I haven't gotten her, and I probbaly won't. Between all the Unimesh characters I have, including Dodger's AEON line, I just have no need for V4.
I don't mind the included morphs thing since I've gotten rather good at CR2 hacking and modeling.
I simply made a Reduced Res figure with no morphs built in.
You can always delete the morphs you don't use and save the figure back to the library.
It makes sharing figures a hell of lot easier since you don't have to worry about what's injected and what's not. Injection was in my opinion a fairly useless annoyance. I prefer the good ol' days when you could just distribute an OBJ with only vertexes and load the morph manually. It was far less work for the vendor and since any one who had the figure had all the included morphs, you didn't have to worry about what morphs were included.
At any rate. If we accept there really nothing new, RRV3 and RRM3 will at least slow down V4's acceptance which means longer life for my investment in V3, S3, Akio, and all the other Unimesh Girls. So if you're a V3 fan, spread the word.
To that end...

Ah, I was being a grouch earlier. Gloom and doom. Krusty needed a hug
I agree that having the morphs built-in make it easier. I just wish there were also Injection versions offered as well. It is nice to have lo res versions that take the same skin textures and can wear the same clothes. |

Only 6 days left to help spread the word. 24 days and not one of you has dugg this story. (YOU SUCK!)
It doesn't take much. Just click on the DIGG icon and you can help make sure people know about this great deal.
For end users it means better support for M3 and V3 since more people will have compatible figures. You're protecting any investment you have in M3 and V3 if more people use them.
For merchants, it's a way to get new customers to purchase your products.
All with a couple of clicks. |
