A single image started it... the "Sometimes I Really Hate You" one in the gallery.

Here it goes:

In May of 1964 the first real contact with an alien took place in New York city. One ship with one passneger landed and waited while the police, people and local officials went into a frenzy of activity. When enough of a media circus was present the alien introduced himself - his name was Rann and he was an agent. Not for a government, but for a tour company. They were intested in opening up argreements with the governments of Earth to allow small groups of aliens to visit and vacation in many of the same places humans went, and oftne for the same reason.

In exchange, they would supply some technology and raw materials that they knew we either needed or wanted. It was a simple buisness arrangement.

Of course, it had repercussions.

Within ten years, some of the aliens sold some technology to some street vendors that was not covered under official contract. One of these was "the amps". These were miniature genetic modifiers that would enhance traits in some poeple and make them "special". They didn't stay confined and a self replicating strain was released in a botched raid on a black market dealer. It got into the water and air and...

By the late 1980's, humanity had power that didn't pollute, food and mecical technology that made life a paradise for billions... And the new humans.

There were three clasifcations. The "specials" who had minor differences with the rest of humanity. Some could change their eye color, some could go without sleep... the list was nearly endless, but they were harmless and mostly never noticed. Then there were the "powered". These were more numerous, but were often more noticable. Advanced strength, senses or some other unique feature that made them stand out. Some become assets to their communitie, others became problems.

And the "superiors". These were like the superheros of the comic books. They were rare - perhaps a few thousand around the world - but they were formidable. Reports of several who could fly, some who were inhumanly strong, even one who could control energy and matter like a god. The ones who were willing to cooperate with their governments were given code names, trained and effectivly become assets for their govenments to use. The ones who weren't went into hiding or were labeled "rouges" and when possible captured or watched.

A few became real heros. Some just want to be left alone.

Others are out there doing the jobs they are asigned and making the best of it... for now.
