Okay, I thought I would give everyone a chance to look at some of my latest DAP-style stuff without fear of having to hand over a firstborn or such, and maybe this will help bide the time between half-covered Angelic bodies pics. ^_^

Please keep in mind that each of these pics are located OFF Animotions servers, and they are not to be held responsible for content considered unbecoming to younger or more immature viewers. Neither am I, for that matter. I warn you that not all of these pictures are for the all-ages crew. If you find adult content distasteful, there are pictures without warning that have none of the like in them.

But for those of you who are open-minded about it, please take a gander. Nothin' you ain't seen a hundred times before by other artists. I just wanted to give back a little bit to y'all, so you can see the sort of quality I'm hoping to build on, and maybe even have something to brighten your day.

Or not. Anyway:

Shockwave - Ad (all ages): For all of you wanting to get a close-up and personal look at our cute sound-manipulator, here's a one-shot I did for fun.

http://www.darkeragepress.com/art/Liss-GM2.jpg

--

DAP - Ad (VIOLENCE! MATURE AUDIENCES!): For those of you who never got a chance to see this when it was up on the gallery, I wanted to give you a chance to see what I do when I have time and too much caffeine.

http://www.darkeragepress.com/art/DAPAd.jpg

--

Autumn Grove (NUDITY! MATURE AUDIENCES!): Remember our killer elf with the warpaint in the Santa pic? She's not all about death and killing.... just mostly. The male in this picture will actually have a part much later, when we find out about her past. But this was a test on doing background scenery in Vue every bit as much as your standard American Male bit. And no, it's not porn, it's art.

http://www.darkeragepress.com/art/Autumn-Grove.jpg

--

Why, God? (All Ages): This was done two-fold, to give a chance for me to slow my computer down something fierce by multilayering snow in Vue, and to give an idea at how Argo (the character my nick comes from) faces down questions of faith.

http://www.darkeragepress.com/art/Argo-SnowII.jpg

--

And finally, Cavalier (All Ages) just gives a bit more of a full picture of the one you see of him in the DAP-Promo bit we plugged a ways back. Scary thing was how little postwork this one took.

http://www.darkeragepress.com/art/Cavalier_2.jpg

--

Hope y'all enjoy them. Comments are always welcome, but not necessary. I just thought I'd give y'all an idea of some of the work I've done recently, so when I'm not up to snuff you can bash me for it. ^_^

THIS SUCKS! Ok, now that the mandatory THIS SUCKS has been said, no one else can say..because this stuff just rocks.:) Of course, I am favoring towards Shockwave, but that because we share the same last name.:)

Yea really sux

each one progressively better.
That "I'm so not cleaning that up" line was perfect. Or I'm just in a wierd mood tonite.

Something I noticed though. And I'd never say this in a gallery setting. But why is it that figures in la cosa nostra (lit. this thing of ours) actually look like they can move? In movement classes it's called projecting. In "Why God" the fists are pushing towards the ground not just at his side.
Compare that with any of the Vicky-in-a-thong swinging a sword like a fungo bat. The ' no dynamism" pose #16.
Is it because we have to live with these things day to day?

someday also we must discuss the finer points of muzzle flashes in another thread. :-)

It's not the muzzle flash, it's the caliber of hand cannon one uses.. 8)

I will say this, all aside, Cavalier doesn't shoot lead from his hand cannons, they are merely focus projectors for his own natural energy. That said, I have to smack my woobie for being so damn good!I have to work with this guy everyday on the comic and look at what he can put out?? What the heck am I suppose to do?

Thanks for the kind words, all of yas! Ya see why I like posting here? Honest response and people whose opinions I really hold highly! I do think for the most part my pictures have gotten progressively better... but it's sort of like riding a bike... the more you do it, the more you forget what you're doing and try to show off until you run headlong into a parked car. (Oh, wait, maybe that's just me.)

That said, I did want to point out that Jje made a really good point... it does seem like the poses I've seen here in this forum do seem to have a more 'dynamic' (although I'm not sure if that's the term I'm looking for) and 'realistic' feel to them than other places online. I can actually see real people posing like Kayla, or hamming it up like the group swimsuit shot for HCK, whereas in some pictures I've seen in R'osity and R'otica have a very 'static' look to them.

A lot of it could be the fact that we take the time to work out stories for many of our characters and thus sort of get a feel for their inner emotions, which translates to their pose more... a lot of it could be because we don't want to put our own characters into stock poses. A lot of it could be because we really care, rather than just posting a 5 minute picture. It's hard to tell. But I noticed that, as well.

Oh, and I'd love to do a thread about Special Effects, and how best to do them in Poser, Bryce/Vue and Photoshop. Trust me... thug's guns won't have Cav's big "Muzzle Flash of Death" to them. ^_^

Oh, and I guess I should point out that DAP-Ad was sort of a cry out against my least favorite type of villain, the fun-loving "I just want to play pranks" type that lives with Deus Ex Machina as their MO.

Gads, I hate those types. Give me a gun and let me spray them with lead.

Trust me... thug's guns won't have Cav's big "Muzzle Flash of Death" to them.

Well thank God for that, after all Cav has trademarked that. Wouldn't want to get a guy like that pissy at us. Oh wait... he's not real is he?

>I have to smack my woobie for being so damn good!

Is it legal to admit that in a public forum?

No dynamic is the right word. Someone just standing in a karate punch pose is different from someone whos hands have snapped into that position while executing karta.

A great dancer's arms, legs and head project into space rather than just "vogue"
Hard to explain in writing. If we're ever in a bar together remind me and I'll show you somethings a movemeny guru once taught me.

muzzle flash? see attached from Vue.

GREAT flash effect, Jje! Mind me asking how it was done? Fire mat on a cylinder with a curve trans function?

Or will I have to take the sensei course with Cav?

Can't picture JJE as an old blind kung fu master leading around a bunch of white boys teaching them the forbidden arts of muzzle flashes...:) I just can't.:)

Jje: "Ahhh, you wish to learn... if you can take the seed from my hand, young ones, you will hav*THUMPSMACKCRACKBIPSMACK!*

(Momentary silence)

Cavalier and ArgoForg, standing over Jje after bumrushing the seed: "Waaaait. So now that we took it, where's all that %!*^@&! mysterious knowledge?!?!"

It's reasons like this that Zen Masters usually give us the boot after a short while.

Probably so. I try not to tempt fate when it comes to hot irons. That's why I will just wait until there are some nice how-to's on how to use Vue.

Just out of curiosity, would anyone here be up for a 'tips and tricks' sort of thread involving Poser, Vue and Bryce? Or should we keep something like that to somewhere other than the 3D comics area?

Naw I'll just sic Kelly and Nicky on them. They'll die with smiles on their faces but be dead nonetheless.

"C'mon, try and take the pebble from my hand"
"Master, you are talking to the floor lamp again."

That particular flash is a hollow cylinder with a tapered thingie in it that I modeled in Amapi. Then two different procedural textures/bumps/trans applied in Vue. Luminosity and glow both messed with as well.

Unfortunately it doesn't look good from every angle and I've had to modify it to fit a lot.
The original scene I neded it for had Nicky using Kelly's Walthers P88 for the first time and rather than squeezing off one shot lets fly with a full clip (which then turns int a running gag). The attached is a portion of the final image in my editing bin. Needs lots more work to look right. Too static. And there's no way I can see to get around not putting "bangbangbang" or something like that in the image. I HATE that.
