From the information I'm receiving poser has died. I was away trying to obtain my mcdba, I would still love to finish my story ( sorry about real life intruding) but I'm curious. Is Poser dead? And is daz studio becoming quasi open source?

Poser isn't dead as far as I know..but if they don't get their butts in gear, it might be. And Daz Studios as far as I understand will not be open source, but just free.:) Then again, this is just from my understanding open source means anybody can take the source code and do whatever the heck they want to it til the whole computers burns down for all we care.:)

To put it bluntly, Curious Labs made a bad call with Poser 5.. shipping it out as buggy and high price it was..and they are sufficiently paying for it. They can turn the boat around, and produce an excellent Poser 6 (well they are developing Poser 5 Pro Pack..but I doubt it will make it any less buggy...tooo many problems from what I hear. As it stands, I don't have Poser 5. Don't wish to have Poser 5. I can do just nicely with the software I have that works.:))

I'm in agreement with Dana that Curious labs screwed up in releasing Poser 5 in the state that they did. But then agan that seems the norm for software companies. Their line of thinking being if we can't get it right when we sell it, we'll offer upgrades to fix the problems.

But like Dana, I think they screwed up immensely. People expected a damn good program for their price when they were purchasing Poser 5, a mistake I'm glad I avoided, and it turned out to be one of the biggest lemons of the 3d art world.

Me, I'm upgrading to Poser 4 Propack, and that's it. IF Daz Studio turns out to be along the lines of Poser and is a better program for it, I'll move over to their program. But that's because I like the idea of actually buying modules to do what ya want, rather than having to get the whole kit and kaboodle, and never use half of what is contained in the program.

But considering all the layoffs, and people leaving CL, I'd say the ship was sinking.

That is a possibility I like about Daz Studios.. but you know something, I might be buying the animation module.:)

But one thing is for sure about Daz Studios.. it will work with the Daz Figures. After all, Daz isn't THAT stupid to make a product that can't read their own figures.:)

Right now, I am plenty happy with my package as it is right now.. Poser Pro Pack with Bryce 5 with Natural Pose 2.1. ;) Right now, I am rendering kayla in school clothes.. now Cav, before you start thinking britney spears...no, she is fairly covered up.:) Well .. in this scene..well actually, the scene to follow it (if you remember the script..or read it if you had the chance), she is not totally covered ALL the time.:) But that took a bit of figuring out what to do..because one, I can';t have the bra look bigger then kayla's boobs..so I had to take it into tailor, and modified the bra to fit closer.:)

As probably the male community is secretly saying (despite the topic discussion) "Come on.. we want to see it all!"

One thing about the story for the movie, she starts off as a weak girl..but turns up one bitch of a goddess..:)
