Okay, people have been telling me time and time again to start reading Marvel again (last time I read Marvel regularly, Erik Larsen was writing and drawing Spiderman and some punk named Liefeld was churning out team books at Image like he was on speed), so when I was at the local shop today, I got into a long conversation with the owner about what's good, bad and ugly about current Marvel titles. Based on the kind of stuff I normally like, he recommended Astonishing X-Men, so I picked up the first two issues... I have to say, this is a hell of a lot better than I remember the X-Men being. I used to collect their books in high school, but I dropped them because they... well, they started sucking harder than a ShopVac. I'll probably be adding Astonishing X-Men to my monthly stash. Or maybe I'll just let it take Conan's place, because that book is going downhill pretty quickly.

BTW, for those who don't know, Astonishing X-Men is actually written by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy and Angel and Firefly.

Revamp. The whole entire X-catalog went through it in May.
