I downloaded Hasdrubal's Batman textures for the M3 bodysuit. Well those worked great. Then I went looking for the cowls. Well I started out with the Hasdrubal 2 cowl set from the free section. Neither one fits M3 correctly. No amount of scaling or moving will allow this prop to fit M3. This occurs in both Poser 5 and my Poser 7 upgrade. There is also a weird deformation around the nose of both cowls that shows up in the preview but goes away when you render in Poser 7.

Next I downloaded the M2 cowl by Aremis and the morph to make it fit M3. So I load the prop, then loaded the morph target into it. It did nothing, the morph target dial I mean. You also cannot move or scale this prop once it is loaded unless you unparent it. The object was not locked either, I checked on that. Once unparented I was able to make it fit reasonably well with the scale and move erc dials. The morph fit did nothing, no offense to the creator. But.... it also wont follow any pose you use, and the minute you parent it back to any part of M3 you lose all of the scaling and movement and it goes back to the original state that you loaded the prop in with, not fitting and most of the cowl being inside of M3's head. All of this also occurs in both Poser 5 and Poser 7.

Well I was thouroughly frustrated at this point but I decided to try one more thing. I have a buddy who lives nearby that is also into Poser and has Poser 5 on his computer, no upgrade. I burned the cowls and outfit onto a disk and went to his house to try them. I thought maybe the upgrade to Poser 7 screwed around with something inside my pc. Well I got the exact same results on his pc that I did on mine. I then loaded his M2 figure and tried to place the Aremis cowl on that. Well it fit better on the intial load up but parts of the nose were sticking out, and pieces of the face around the eyes. Also parts of the back of the skull. And it had the same problem with not being able to be scaled or moved until unparented. And no amount of scaling or moving made it fit right on M2. Do these props not work in Poser 5 or later for the pc? If so that should be noted on the download page.

I downloaded the Daredevil for M3 by Hasdrubal and it looks great. The only problem with that set is that the leg loop prop wont follow your pose, no matter what you have it parented to it stays in the original position you loaded it from. Looks great if you dont move the left leg lol. I have had excellent results with the Ultimates Ironman and Hulk sets I downloaded. No problems at all. These are newer additions to the freebie section though.

Not sure if these are bugs exactly but they have really frustrated me. I was looking forward to doing some nice Batman renders. Hope you modelers are working on newer versions of this stuff that is tested in Poser 5-7. You guys do awesome work and I would love to create some art using your stuff.

Did you contact the creators of those specific items and ask for help? Seem like the most logical people to ask. I know for certain that both Hasdrubal and Aremis use at least Poser5 and I'm pretty sure they have Poser6 as well.

AniMotions is just a place for people to upload their free items -- none of it is created by AniMotions, so if you're having trouble, you need to talk to the creators themselves.

I will give that a try because I would really like to have a Batman model to work with. And the textures Hasdrubal made for the M3 bodysuit are kickass. Thanks for the reply.

Well, you obviously didnt give ODS' suggestion a try, since you didnt attempt to contact me ;).

The cowl is not a conforming figure, but a stand alone prop. So no, it wont always work perfectly on M3 - It was designed for M2, as you did mention.
But you need to be creative when working with any freebies, and have some experience with 3D apps in general. In other words, doing things like changing the nose on M3/M2 so that it's hidden behind the cowl (both Mikes have morphs that do this). Same with things like the ears. You need to make sure you have a no-ear morph applied to Mike.
Its not about changing the shape of the cowl - Its about working with the head youre parenting it to.
And once parented, an item cant be resided or moved around. If it doesnt like up properly - First, make sure you ZERO your figure, and the cowl WILL line up perfectly to the head. Of this I am 100% certain. If you want to reside it or move it around, unparent it first, do what you need, then reparent.

As for the M3 morph, I personally have never used it, so I cant speak on its behalf. But I use my cowl on M3 as is, with very little need to make modifications.

As for updates to these files -All my files, texturs and props, are fully tested in Poser 5 though 7 - Modelers do not spend all their time on Freebies, as Im sure you are aware. 90% of Muskateeer Graphics' work is in animation and film, and that is the main focus.
Any freebies turned out, are usually done either for fun, or for our own need, and then we share. But there is never intention a) to make updates unless we ourselves need it done and b) that they will work for 100% of the people using it.

Thanks

Well I just recieved the ODS reply last night and was going to send you a private message later today. I wasn't criticizing anyone, and as for asking for updates that was begging plain and simple. I can tell by the way you replied I offended a bit, that was not my intention I was just frustrated when I made the post. I had tried numerous things before coming here as stated. Sorry if anyone took what I said that way.

Your cowl I have no problem fitting onto M3 it is that once it is parented to the figure then any adjustment I made goes out the window. I guess I can try just leaving it as is till I get the figure posed and then adjusting it. I will try the other suggestions you mentioned also. Its a nice mask, I just want to be able to use it. And I appreciate that you gave it to the community for free.

I am struggling right now to learn how to make more than a chair or a wine glass in Carrara. I am attempting to learn how to model so I can make my own stuff and give back to the community. I also just picked up Hexagon 2 last night so there will be some more keyboard marks on my forehead  . Once again thanks for the reply and input and sorry I offended anyone.

Sorry if I was harsh - There are a lot of people who seem to think that Freebies deserve top priority all the time, and that we as modelers owe it to those who download some of our stuff.
So I apologize if I sounded harsh. I know you meant well.

One thing you can do, an easy work around for the cowl if it helps.
Pose it so it fits the way you want, modify ect.
Then without moving anything futher, export it as an OBJ file.
Delete the original, and reimport the new OBJ. Turn off Drop to floor and center. It will load exactly where you left it, in the same shape you modified it.

Hope that helps a little.

Again, my apologies.

I wish I had read this before LOL. But I ended up getting the cowl where it needed it to be, the hard way :P. and I just saved the entire figure so I dont have to fool with it anymore. Thats a good idea though, I may try that on the leg loop prop for the Daredevil outfit cuz its giving me some problems too. Once again, thanks for taking the time to try and help me. I appreciate it.
