Um... I posted an "in Progress" picture of my fan based character (who is like over 8 years old in development and has a nice juicy long and fun history that I'd like to share)
So, with the FINISHED renderings, should I post them in the Marvel folder of the Gallery, or the Original folder?
Suggestions please?
Please feel free to glance at my tripod page (sorry about the pop ups, but HEY it's FREE!) for some sketches and photmanips etc! It also has her origin (the brief version).

Hope I can get some feedback here... just got Bryce and I'm looking to learn how to render stuff in it *falls over looking at the wierd interface*
GRINS!

Bryce isn't so bad once you get the hang of it.
What you did is kind of .. an iffy. Although I dare say it is better in originality then someone doing Wonderman. My opinion though.
*Thinks like the Harry Potter Sorting Hat*.. I would say original since the character is a character only based on an location etc on Stan Lee's creation. However, since you created the character and it is an idea as long as you don't say she is the great great great grandchild of Logan or Creed, you should be safe.
Original I say because Marvel folder I think would be for.. established characters such as Logan, Wonderman, and such..whereas yours is by definition an original concept, and should be treated as an original (or you will have fans wondering where the heck this woman was all those years.. was she a damsel in the refridgerator?) If you don't get what I mean, just look a few sections through our long line of posts and you will see that topic. How Marvel and DC are guilty of treating women as weak inferior beings while men are strong and incorriable. (from the examples stated on the site only.. That why you find a lot of the original comics in the online comic section have strong female leads. _________________ Dana Haywood

While I prefer the ease of Vue, Bryce is a good program. But I would post your images into the Original section in my opinion. I saw this pic and the one in the WIP section and they both look good.
If I may make a suggestion, if you're going to do an online comic, and we gladly welcome another, you should try and escape the myth of Alpha Flight. Make her a heroine of her own.
While this is a far larger project to tackle, with creatign your own characters and what not, I think you'll find it a far greater accomplishment. And since you posted your web address to check out, and I will after this message, here's one for you to gander at...

Enjoy, and I look forward to seeing more work with this interesting character!

Hullo Dana!
Well, my concept will be that in the 'regular marvel universe' the timeline that Marvel is usually following, Rem is an honourary Alphan who is carefully hoarded. She's one of the only healers they have, and she is 'treasured' and or 'sheltered' somewhat.. something I plan on covering in great detail.
She's stronger than they think, and all sorts of small things happen AWAY from the main story line. In the mainstream she'd be like the Morlock healer was, a supporting character and 'barely of worth mentioning'. (shrugs) BUT it will be neat to see her reaction to the events of the main universe until all hell breaks loose and she finds herself in the universe where Blink and the other reality travellers ended up for the one issue having to do with the Hulk and an Alpha Flight lead by the Logan-meister himself!
Rem will have a terrible secret and will cease to be a 'supporting character' though hopefully not a complete mary sue. (ugh)
As for relations to Sabretooth and Logan... unh unh no way! She is her own self with her own background, and while Logan in the next universe will be a 'father figure' (like he is to many generations of girls) he will never actually be her grandpa or anything like.
Rem won't be strong at first. Think about it. She has a hyper healing factor slightly stronger than Logan's with a new twist... and NO claws or anything. She will be terrified and inexperienced at first. It will be fun to develop her and show how she GETS stronger and more capable as time goes on.
Ok, so I can post her in the Originals and hopefully not many people will scream. I wish I could come up with a whole new universe, but really, I'm not sure how I could and be happy with it. This whole thing is just an experiment and everything about it will have notes plastered all around saying so. Heheheheheh.
Thank you for the feedback, it's most helpful!

Hey Amy, didn't say this at first, but welcome to the 3D COMICS FORUM, the most happening forum on the Animotions site. 8)
I just checked out your site and looked over the galleries and you have a real talent when it comes to penciling and shading. Nicely done. I can't draw a straight line, and so that's why I use Poser to work with. 8)
Reading over your last post, I look forward to seeing what you are putting together for a 3D comic. Know that you already have a viewer waiting for it.

WOOPS! I can see we posted more or less at the same time!
Hullo Cavalier! *friendly waves and a huge grin*
Thank you for the warm welcome and the very lovely offering of feedback!
You're right of course. About doing an original comic... sigh. I read your posts and had a shower and while in there I thought of a long ago universe/story idea that I hadn't fleshed out yet. (I do my best thinking in the shower for some odd reason... hey if JRR Tolkien thought of the last line for his famous prophesy while kicking the sponge out of the bath, *I* can think of a comic universe while in the shower hahahahahaha)
I love Marvel's older stuff... have been a fan since I was like 13 (I'm 34 now) and Alpha Flight first came out that year, and it was one of the first titles I ever collected. WildChild, even as a villain was wonderful, and I grew up with SUCH a huge crush, especially when they finally made him handsome, and they explored his character. I love the character's personality so much that even when they made him 'ugly' again I didn't mind. I was going to transfer that over to Rem, but nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. *laughter*
Thank you too for the very high praise! *turns pink* And you'll watch for my comic? (If I ever learn how to do this!???) WOOP! *does a happy dance*
Wow, I'm ... overwhelmed! (and pleased and happy!) I'm looking forward to kicking ideas around with folks and getting feedback.. I have yet to ever pursue a career with my art, and I think it's high time I did.. whether 3d, drawn or otherwise!
Wheeee!

Heya.. If you do decide to go originally, totally, it should be cool to watch. After all, Liberty does need some competition. Well, from a singular female character..not saying anything bad about the DAP girls.. especially a certain chestnut hair goddess!
What you are doing with Remedy is pretty cool, and something I kind of done with Madison (one of my characters from Heresy (http://heresy3d.net)). She has the powers of gods and demons..yet she doesn't know how to fully use them yet..:)When she learned, beware..
Coming up with a universe is kind of difficult, but with all things, difficulty has it rewards. Either way, I am sure your comic will be cool.. and btw, I did go to the site, now I am jealous and envious of you.. The sole reason why I do 3d (like Cav) is I can draw a little more then a stick, but not by much. You outdo us..we are humbled by your presence.

The DAP (Darker Age Press) Universe is one of our own devising, that being ArgoForg, JMD, and myself. Three working on a universe kind of helped things out, with two of us doing the writing and art work while JMD makes sure we keep things spelled correctly and the continuity straight.
But the rewards for doing an original comic are worth it in my opinion.
And after seeing your post I'd say that you have the energy for it. So stick around here, and we'll lend you the help and support that we are famous for!

I will help too, just don't ask me to make a universe. Goodness, I really corrupted people perception of life just by creating my comic.. _________________ Dana Haywood

Almost forgot to mention..since your main character is such a cuty (in my opinion) and has the ability to be a strong female lead at some point..I formally invite you to the 3d comic diva swimsuit issue topic;) You don't have to, but it is just an offer;) _________________ Dana Haywood

Always good to see a new voice around here... and the pics I've seen at your site look really good, both the hand-drawns and the 3D art. I'd have to stick with Dana on one subject, that being while I am a major DC fan, nothing hits me quite like an original comic world... maybe that's because I'm not working for DC. I've written fanfics before, and I've even had people compliment them. But even then, they don't have the same feeling of accomplishment as something I've done that's totally mine. That's just my opin, though.
You do ask a good question about renders... I would personally say that if your picture/render has a Marvel Comics character in it, along with Rem, it would probably receive better response if you drop it into the Marvel area. If it's just Rem, Original comics would probably be fine. Seems like more people hit and respond to the pics in the Big Two areas than the Originals.
As a former Bryce user, I will say that you can definitely have a lot of fun with Bryce, and you can make some outstanding art with it. (I'd also suggest if you can find Real World Bryce 4 by Kitchens and Gavenda either new or used, it will be a huuuuuge help in learning some of what you are capable of doing with Bryce. Even Bryce 5.)
Course, that said, I personally use Vue D'Esprit for the simplicity of importing poser scenes and the realism of the vegetation. ^_^ To each their own, y'know?
Anyway, good to have you sayin' hey, and feel free to post early and often here! _________________ "It is perfectly easy to be original by violating the laws of decency and the canons of good taste."

WOOP!
*feels the love*
*Does another even happier dance*
THANK YOU!
*Is rendered nearly speachless!*
Dana! YOU did Heresy!??? I love that! I've also been drooling over Jack and Liberty Girl and trying to take time to read the other comics in the ring and having to regularly put my eyes back in my head and pick my jaw up off the floor. (Also anyone who touches on wicca and goddess like religion stuff is doubly blessed IMHO! I'm wiccan)
Aw Dana don't be jealous dear heart... I find that doing 3d comics and using Poser takes a certain eye for anatomy, lighting, texturing. THAT is also REAL talent, IMHO! (I mean this SINCERELY) Anyone who tries to tell me that Poser isn't 'real' art gets a verbal strip blasted off them (in my usual nice way- sigh). I appreciate every single panel and render for the hours upon hours they represent!
I can draw like a mad fiend, true, but I am so very much enjoying the experimental trip into 3d! That's what this is all about really. I love the photoreal quality of 3d and really enjoy the TLC and effort of others and the challenge to my old ways of thinking about art.
If I want to pursue being a texture artist or 3d sculptor eventually (the other whole point of broadening my horizons), I NEED to learn more about the tools and environments! With my background in graphic arts and illustration, it would be pure stupidity of me not to try out new media! (Besides I LOVE 3d environments! WHEEEE~! Being an avid gamer too, it's all fun!)
My dears, I am touched! I feel so happy! I have been ADOPTED!!!!!! YAYYYYYYYY! I will be happy to continue to post info and renders and sketches (I wish I had a scanner, my tablet is a bit... woobly to draw with for clean lines)
As for the Diva Swimsuit.! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! You realise Rem will scream and try to hide, right? That's part of her charm really, but you will all discover that over time. Rem acts like an 'almost real' girl... and a shy one at that! What FUN! I could even do a panel or two getting UP to the challenge of wearing a swimsuit. If any of you have females who love to guest star it might be a scream to have them all in a store and the girls trying to get Rem to try on racier and racier stuff and her screaming from the change room! LOL! I can see the dialogue now....
Remedy "Where's the REST of it!??? Oh my GODS!"
Remedy "How in all of heaven's name do I WEAR THIS!??? There's not enough of it to wipe my NOSE with!"
etc etc... lots of laughs. She's a grand goof.
I will read more about the Diva thingie... it sounds like an utter scream and I am flattered that I have had my shy and hilarious character invited!
You DO realise that Rem stands like 5' 4"... right? All these tall leggy perfect supermodel women will make her hide behind something and look around in panic, asking what the hell made them all so gorgeous and can she have some..? (She has no clue how cute she is!)
Oh the fun I can have with this!
Well met my friends! I am so HAPPY!
A very Excited

Gorgeous and leggy? Nahhhh. In my latest, Wraith and Raptor are teens, and they probably stand 5'4" or so... more if we forget to size compare.
Heck, Wraith has less curves than an Indiana highway on the outskirts of a farm community. But I kinda like her that way. Matches her personality. Unassuming and generally rather ignored. ^_^
Okay, there's leering fanboys.... I guess she has one reason to be modest. ^_^ _________________ "It is perfectly easy to be original by violating the laws of decency and the canons of good taste."
