cinex,
The point of this whole thing is, you can do your product in Flash if you want to. It's up to you.
We may have a "traditional" comics section, but if you want to do something non-traditional, do it.

Of course, flash in and of itself won't make a comic great but neither will a hand-drawn 2D comic and there are far more bad ones on the web done using that style.
That endorses what I already said, so we're in agreement there.

While it isn't my intention to belittle constructive ideas or generally annoy "serious" artists; the idea of using Flash, which has been done before, can hardly be considered "thinking outside the box." Neither does the veiled threat of taking your pencils away because I questioned that format, sound like the conviction required of a "serious" artist.
I've said it before and I'm quite happy to say it again, we do not need gimmicks, we need good stories and we need good art; and y'know what? We need them fast before we discuss this idea into oblivion.

Or into inanity.
One artist's "gimmick" is another's style. Just because one couldn't make it happen, don't dismiss it out of hand. THAT'S what I mean by not thinking "outside the box". Make sense? thanks.

everyone needs to a take deep breath and remember that this thread is for DISCUSSING IDEAS. It's been said flat out by several people -- including the site's owner -- that the style and format is up to the creator. There's no need to bring in all this style vs gimmick and "serious artist" stuff. That's what Renderosity is for. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

We have had plenty of discussion here. Now, I think it's time, to start breaking this thread down as Jim suggested.
Quote:
AniMotions Online Comic Venue forum, placed under the "Comic Collective" header.
Pinned topics titled Administrative & technical for dicussing issue of PDF security, formats, files sizes, pricing, etc.; Match-Making where we can keep a list of writers looking for artists, artists looking for writers and writer/artists looking for same to collaborate with; Creative where everything not covered above can be hashed out.
If the Mods would be so kind as to start these threads, we could then begin to work on the various aspects involved in creating the comics. Let me know where you place them so that I may respond appropriately.
Thanks
Alex

I made a suggestion under "Range of subject matter" that no one's responded to. Maybe it's in the wrong place. So I'll put it here too. It concerns the security and downloading issues.
How about setting things up so there's a free issue- like a sneak preview or a "0" issue of say five or six pages that could be downloaded for free. Then If a costumer wnats more they could subscribe to a chosen title. The process would be simular to a membership subscription- something like Renderotica has set up. Then If there's an issue, the sale could be traced by the subscritption.
I realize this would not solve every security issue, But it would be one way to go about things.

ming56,
You might want to contact palmers. He is putting an anthology together. He could give you the specifics of what he is looking for. _________________ I am a romantic, a seeker of beauty.
