I've been trying out CS2 for the past two or three weeks, but my trial's about to run out, and I can't afford to pay the $900 to buy the product. I noticed that Photoshop Elements is a lot more affordable. Does it have most of the same features? Can anyone help me here?

Elements is basically a "light" version of the software. It doesn't have all the features available in CS. If you go to the Adobe website, you can find PDF files that list the full feature sets of each to compare.

Okay. Can it handle overlays?

I've never used it, so I'm not sure. Probably, but check the info at the Adobe site.

I just watched the demo that comes with cs2 today and it has some really brilliant new features. They've just got it at work.
Elements has the basic featues of phs but hasn't got 'image ready' which comes with photoshop. Then you've got PaintShopPro9 which is great for around $200 it's got the basic phs tools but you can also 'paint' with oils, etc.
Then you've got the GIMP, put together by universities all over the world, all the basic tools of phs and it's GNU :D free.
