I've been agonizing over purchasing a tablet and stylus for my artwork (as opposed to the mouse and its brick-like feel!) and was wondering if anyone can give advice as to what to buy? I use a PC, not a Mac, btw.

Pretty much anything by Wacom works great with either Mac or PC. Ive owned numerous versions of their tablets, and loved each of them. Ive had many only because Im too hard on them.
Im not a big fan of the mouse they supply - Cheaply made and low-end - But then, all I use it for is the pen and tablet anyhow.
The rest of your choice will be pricing - The more you pay of course means the better the tablet. More options, more pressure sensitivity, more tablet space in terms of size. _________________ =============================

Thanks - I suppose my next question is of the higher priced tablets would I need to be discerning or would anything do the job pretty much? You mention that you've worn out a lot - is there one that is more durable for instance than others?

Well, the intuos is definetly the high end of the spectrum, from Wacom. Its very durable - My wearing them out was more to neglect rather than over usage. Things like spilling drinks on them, dropping them repeatedly when moving them around, even things like keeping my ashtray (yes, Im a smoker...sue me...I dare ya's), and getting ash all over it, is usually enough to kill any hardware.
But my current Wacomis the 6x8 graphire3. Works beautifully, you can get it relateively cheap, under 300$ (Or cheaper on eBay im sure), and depending on your level of graphics experience, will more than suit your requirements Im sure. _________________ =============================

Thank you...I'm getting a quote from a PC store for both the 6x8 and 9x12 versions...currently the larger is a little cheaper for features etc. I'll try not to a) sue you for smoking b) spill coffee c) sit on my tablet once I buy it
