Hey Ratteler,
This Mesh is amazing...
I love the fact that rendering is a snap on my slow PC I rendered 2 of them it took like a Minute and a half
I have noticed some miner issues with the mesh manly around the shoulders when it comes to certain
Posing, also might want to look at locking the morph
targets to not go passed a certain amount??
Just some helpful feedback on this mesh
All and all It ROCKS your work has paid off, and judging from it your other figure Reslo should be simple
Oh and what ever happened to the Colossus WIP I hope it did not go with your HD?
Thank you very much for allowing us at AniMotions
to play around with this mesh. |

Rattler...sorry for not getting to this yesterday.....the arms bending past the Armor was one of the issues. I am trying to see how to add pictures to this with out a seperate website.
Also, when the body's muscle morph is set to 1 and if you widen the shield sensor on the chest and set the pentagon morph to 1 part of the red armor shows through.
I can send the pictures in e-mail.
So far, other than this, the mesh is pretty tight! A lot of different possibilities due to all the added morphs! |

Hey pgtyner,
The shield sensor is kinda like a prop in sense, you need to pull it forward using your ztran that fixes the problem. As far as posting images to show Rattler? all you have to do is upload to this site use the Forum images link under the Gallery link.
Look at the bottom left hand side and you shall see it. _________________ "The Earth is the cradle of the mind but one cannot remain in the cradle forever."

Thanks for the feedback guys.
The shoulder are going to be a pain no matter what.
It's one of those things that looks cool in comics, but just will never work in real life.
Try putting even a bike tire around your arm like that you're going to have restricted motion.
I think I made the best compromise I could with the Shoulder cuffs, but since they are basically a second set of collars (Which aren't actually collars on a Poser figures, but more like shoulders.) no poses have information on what to do with them... so they have to be adjusted manually. When I have some poses made specifically for the figure, this will be less of a problem.
As far as the shield sensor, Bman hit the nail on the head. It's a completely separate body part with xyz controls. You can move it anywhere you want, but it will always be a slave to the chest.
I'm actually going to do the same thing with the Nipple bolts, and most likely, the hand blasters.
I've found that when polygon smoothing is on in Firefly... the hand blasters end up covered.
Given Poser's rigging system, this is the only way to keep these parts from warping with different poses. The upside... is that you have future expansion where you replace body part with Prop! |

It's a great model to play with, you did a fantastic job on it.
I don't mind doing tweaks to get the look that I like. I use darker materials and resize him to give the larger appearence of a man in armor.
On a personal note, I think that the boots and gloves should be a bit larger. That's just my opinion.
I read you were working on more morphs for this, any ideas you can tell us?
Pics to come soon.
Again thanks for the great model!!! |

I'm trying not to ruin the surprises with the morphs, but if you have any specific requests feel free to ask.
How do mean "larger" gloves and boots? Any real vertical scaling will kill the joint parameters, but I could make them a bit wider. |

Yes, wider sounds about right. Just to get the look of hands inside Armor/Tech loaded gloves. As for specific requests, eyes.
I tried using M3's eyes, but when I go to pose the eyes don't follow the head. They look sweet in the helmet. |

I'll see what I can do for larger hands and feet. Since I was going after the original Mark III "suitcase" style armor, it was supposed to be a little closer to the skin.
Funny you should mention eyes. Hmmm. I wonder if there some prop coming down the pipe to for that. |

I just want to make stuff I would want to get.
I'm using Lightwave 9.3 for modeling and UV Mapping. I also do my OBJ grouping in LW. Since they fixed the OBJ export in 7.5 it's been the simplest way to model for Poser that I've found.
Although once I've finished AA, Reslo and Officer Reslo, I'm going to try and move to 3DS Max, and or Maya. All the East coast 3D work is in those programs.
CR2 Editor 1.51 for rigging, and Poser 6. (Yup. Still haven't gone for 7 yet.)
GIMP and Inkscape for texture work. |

Just a little preview of the upcoming update.
GenericChrome has obviously been improved.
Oh... no more Material colors!!! Now all the color comes from the Texture map. (Very simple map at the moment, but now you can paint over to make changes.
And hey... where did all the ridges go? They were right there?!?!? What the hell? They were in the geometry... not a Bump Map!!!
NO!!!
YES!!!!!
I've gone back and "Ironed" the wrinkles out of the Armor. Phase 1 on the way to the Morphing Madness that will be be Amazing Armor.
What you can't see in the picture is the Hand Blasters, and "Nipple" Bolts are now separate parts just like the SheildSensor and the Batteries. (Even though I forgot to move the hand Blaster to counter the Polygon smoothing in the second figure.)
Before I upload it, I'm going to do the same to the EarMuffs, and maybe the Boot Blasters.
This will allow something better than just morphs for these parts. They have independent visibility so you can turn them on and off, AND by using the good old "replace body part with Prop" trick you can add OTHER parts. Like instead of just a Chest Sensor, a cool armor piece with a Sensor can be attached.
More to come. Downloadable update in a couple of days. |
