Here.. believe it or not, Kayla is only 5'6 and half. You can never really tell since she projects a much taller height, but she really is not that much taller then Rem
Then again, who needs to be a leggy supermodel when Kayla can lightening bolt someone arse;) _________________ Dana Haywood

YAY ass lightage! *ZOT!* laughs hysterically*
*Sells tickets and gets rich*
I am all for small and mighty irish girls... being one in Real Life (tm) I can appreciate the benefits of looking small and cute and kicking much bootay!
Rem looks innocuous but is really actually quite good at combat when nessessary, can look after herself quite well. Punches like a crane, kicks like a mule and is generally not as helpless as she seems. She has all that muscle and roundness for a REASON. I will post a picture of her in lighter coloured clothing so you can see for yourself.
Rem is built like a figure skater: small, compact and VERY muscular under all those curves. She has HIPS and THIGHS and shoulders to go with that... uh... rack. Im proud of how I want her to look. This is no teenaged boy with a boob job, she's a very solid and healthy woman. she LOOKS like she can do damage, and by golly she does! (when she has to)
Of course she has every chubby chick's insecurity about her not measuring up to the more slender and supermodel versions of her fellow woman- and it's neat to play up that insecurity.
Sorry I can go on forever... lol
If fate is kind I will do some character renders so that I can explore the model and see if I have to tweak her more to match what's in my head. It will also give all of you a bit more of a peek at her personality!
HUGZ!

Well after looking over your site again, if you decide to go the route of creating an original world for Remedy to kick butt in, may I make a suggestion?
Rather than use the colors that are very familiar of the Alpha Flight team, why not use the uniform look that you drew in Gallery three on the lower left and corner?
You would onyl need to make her suit deep blue with light blue highlights, find bracers and greaves for her and you would probably have to change the color of them to a chrome. But Vicky has a lot of armor hanging around on many of the Poser sites as free props, like Renderosity for example.

A beautiful suggestion!
That costume was a short lived one for her on one of the many Marvel boards I played her on (free form roleplaying) Did that one in photoshop!
I WILL learn 3d modelling... really I will, and perhaps once I know what I'm doing she can have the funky armor!
I went and looked at your webpage... um WOW! Let me know if you want a guest star LOL, if your armless guy there needs help before he bleeds to death and you're short a healer... hee hee hee... (Remedy is nearly barfing behind the trash cans there... hey just cause she can heal doesn't mean she can handle the gorier side of things kids!)
I think I have seen free stuff that might do... OR if I can ever figure out the &*#(&*$^* metallic grouping thingie, I might just give her a very shiney built-in armour like Velvet has, but in PURPLE! (mMmMmMmMmm shiney!)
Now if I can just get the metallic to render, I'll post another picture of her so you can see her body and so on. 8)
You'd think with my couple of years of experience I could at the very least use the freaking subdivided materials properly RIGHT! but noooooooooooooooo I have to try and make it metallic! *rolss eyes* hahahahaha. OH and I'm still rendering in Poser, haven't even opened up that freaking scarey Bryce thing yet *screams*.
LOL!
Amy
PS: Here is apicture of Rem in a lighter bodysuit. As you can see she is slightly less than pleased with me for revealing her like this. She's turning very pink and threatening to run away and hide! Silly over-sensitive healer! Feedback about her model would be welcome... is she too disproportionate? Or did I finally get her right? *grin* Making shorter looking models is a bit herder than I realised... V3 model does not scale bpdy parts down very gracefully, so I just made her head bigger to make her look smaller. Did it work? I wanted her to have nice proportions but still look short.

Trust me, if you can work photoshop (or paint shop pro), and can find a seam guide on R'osity, you can make a kick-arse texture.
Or for that matter, if you're us, you can do a halfway decent job and just plug the hell out of it with heavy postwork so no one notices! ^_^ (Just kidding!)
Rem's face is utterly adorable, too. It's the sort of face I tried to emulate for Cornerstone. Something that's cute but can be harder edged without a problem, too. _________________ "It is perfectly easy to be original by violating the laws of decency and the canons of good taste."
Honestly this picture of REM looks more real than most.
Proportions more in keeping with a normal woman. he said being careful to tread very softly around that.
Metalic purple? Easy! In Poser ? Not likely.
Poser's reflection channel allows you to fake it but it isnt real. That is, no reflection actually hapens. Think how Jack Kerby did reflections on all his Marvel Characters and you got a good idea.
With Bryce you do get real reflections. But you are right it's a difficult program to master.
With Vue you also get reflections and a much easier learning curve.
EG: In the attached I took an existing Nicky pose and gave the tee and pants a quickie purple metalic tex. Total time, including setup, lighting and render - under 1/2 hour.

WOO! PUUUUUURRRRLE!!!!!!!
My favorite colour! *does a happy dance*
Hm, I shall have to see if I can get a copy of Vue then! *feels her brain going into overtime already* If I can learn Poser, I sure as *bleep* can learn these too! That is the whole point of doing this project... to LEARN if I can adapt to the 3d environment.
jje, thank you for the sample! This great! I'm loving every second of this! Everyone has been VERY supportive and it's exactly what I need right now. As for Rem being proportioned like a "real woman" I'm not in the least offended. She IS idealised, but she's also designed to look a bit more... I dunno... substantial.
Now please don't get offended lads and lasses... the lovely ladies I see in comics are amazing, and I have a long background in comics... but I think Rem looks lik e she would pack one HECK of a punch. I've always wanted to do a bit more substantial figures as an experiment. The fact that most of the lads AREN'T going "ugh!" means that I'm successful in making her attractive as well despite NOT being the 'average comic heroine". (Or trying to perhaps, as the case may be LOL)
In the meantime, poor Dana is getting chatted half to death on ICQ hehehehe! Anyone who wants to add me to their ICQ etc please feel free to, leave me a message of when you might be on and I will boot up Trillian! I'd love to chat with you all. Dana can attest that I can chat your eyes off! (muhahahahahahah)
ArgoForg... Rem is blushing crimson right now LOL... you flatterer you! The whole FUN part of this experiment is how much of her character I can manage to get into her face and her body language. Looking at the picture of Cornerstone I can see that she and Rem are both darlings and probably similar in nature.
Thank you VERY much for the feedback!
I HAVE found a V3 seam guide on Renderosity, and I'm playing with it. It's hard to see exactly in 2d how the tex will look stretched over those polys... but remind sometime to show you what 'skinning' a Q3 player model is like... all I can say is this is child's play next to THAT! *shudder*
Loving every second of this and realising that I need more RAM and a MUCH bigger hard drive! ARGH! With all the funky freestuff my Poser Library is really really getting scarey! How WILL I remember who made what!!??? Want to give proper credits after all... *looks at her library and despairs* LOL
Grins!

Tell Rem that crimson would probably just make those cute cheeks stand out all the more, Amy. Hey, might as well get my flattery where I can.... (and then again, flattery isn't all that bad if it's pointing out what everyone else already knows.)
And yeah, I would have to agree with JJE about Vue. The learning curve is truly awesome, even if the first look at it throws you a bit compared to Bryce; you can make some fantastic effects, and the book guides you through pretty well. On top of that, (which sold us to it) you can directly import Poser 4 scenes (including scenes done in P5 from P4 runtimes, I might add) into Vue, making it unnecessary to pick up extra 'ground prop' figures for Poser. Plus, it allows import of 3DS, DXF, COB (I think) and OBJ models, along with other formats. One thing Vue can do that I had all sorts of trouble doing in Bryce is import Poser models with subdivided mats and have them look good-- almost a must these days for superhero renderers. And the quality of the pics is primo, even at the beginner level. Take a gander, if you have a second:
http://www.darkeragepress.com/art/Argo-SnowII.jpg
That's a Vue scene with Poser import. Course, the swimsuit pics @ the Comic Divas Swimsuit Issue I did were Poser import into Vue, too. Needless to say, I'm hooked.
If there are any minuses to Vue, right now the only things I could say are 1) no photoshop format (PSD) export of images, which was something I loved about Bryce, but you do have TIF, BMP and JPG. 2) you need to get a little work in Vue layers before you understand how to create an alpha mask for later postwork, something Bryce did by selecting models and rendering in Mask Mode, and 3) even though materials and objects and such are cropping up with a little more frequency at free-sites, Bryce still has Vue beat hands-down in the 3rd party add-ons department... and even on good days, sometimes I don't like to go through and make materials from scratch when I could have one that just needed tweaked instead. But the poser export alone more than makes up for most of those deficiencies.
I made a long post on the pros/cons of both programs in another forum, and you can feel free to check it out. I believe it's in Creator's Box---> Vue Tutorials, the 2nd page of that particular (sub-)forum.
Oh, and I added you to my Q list, Amy. I'm not on all the time, and sometimes I'm mucking around with scripts or art, but feel free to yell out hey if you see me on and just want to talk shop. Course, maybe I should add my own ICQ here for others to hit me on, too. Durrrrh. I space like that sometimes.

Truth be told I like the overall atmospoheres in Bryce renders a scoatch more than Vue.
And i miss being able to do test renders of small portions of an over all picture. I hate the way Vue4 implemented that.
but...
I've already got somewhere in the order of 2100 individual Poser .PZ3 files. Having to "think" about importing each and every one of them ? *shudder*
Selecting Import in V4 is just too easy. Even with having to learn how to make all the parts work together.

*Takes notes as she goes along, muttering to herself all the while*
Hmmmmmmmmm.
Well I shall see what I can do here... I can see that Bryce might be good for some renders and Vue for others. Now another person in the gallery who is sending me nice notes and hints is saying he uses 3d studiomax. This is fascinating to read up on.
I'm getting a wonderful cross section of information, and this is what I really enjoy... LEARNING. Now to put in hours of practical application and I'm off and running I'm hoping. I have been perusing the free sections and looking at background stuff like buildings and cars and stuff.
Argoforg & Cavalier: I love how your webpage gives credit to all the stuff you use! Mind if I borrow that idea please? I'd like to give acknowledgemnet to all the hard work folks have done to make this stuff available! (I also love those characters! I can't WAIT to see more!)
My man-crazy healer is going nuts looking at all the hunky male characters LOL! (of course she'd need an applecrate to look most of them in the eye, but that won't stop her for long! Hope some of the lads have healing factors! LOL)
My poor poor beleagered brain.... between learning new stuff and reading posts and packing my house for my upcoming move... I haven't much left for story-writing!
But woo this is SO much fun!

I'd have to agree with you on the skies, especially to this extent: the sky lab gave you a lot more total control and a lot more options than the atmosphere editor in Vue does. And the Bryce sun is much more realistic. But then again, I think Vue has a little better ambient light.
Of course, the solidgrowth trees more than make up for a slightly less option-fitted skies. Even with the tree lab, Bryce just hasn't come anywhere near those yet. (Uhm, along with a lot of other stuff) ^_^
Amy,
Course we wouldn't mind you 'borrowing' the idea to thank everyone for 3D stuff you use. I'd really love to say it's an original thought, but the truth is, I was just really anal and wanted to thank everyone to keep us out of potential trouble with people who expect us to 'if you use my prop, you have to link to my site, send me a copy of the picture, and somewhere on the picture give me credit.' The ego of some folks. ^_^ So we just put out a credits section where we gave special thanks to sites we regularly hit or whose creators gave us modeling help, and gave a shout out to everyone. Nothin' special.
Now the links page? That's reserved for people who really helped us out, inspired us, or have been just primo people all around... that includes most of our posters from here.
And I'm sure Argo, Cavalier, Ghoul, and some of the characters in our comics would be flattered by attention from Remedy, even if she had to plop down a soapbox to look them in the eye. Of course, there might be some 'teeny bit' jealous types at DAP, too, at that sort of attention. But then again, I'd bet Rem would get along fine with most of them, except one or two who really don't get along with anyone, anyway. ^_^
Keep pluggin'. I know I hated moving, but you'd be surprised what story ideas come up when you're fixated on something else entirely. _________________ "It is perfectly easy to be original by violating the laws of decency and the canons of good taste."

Heh well the point is moot now since I've been adopted by the DAP crew!
For those not in the know, Remedy may well be included into the storylines of the two super teams, with an eye to her joining one permenantly... more than that you'll have to wait for the issues!
I'm working on a V2 version of Remedy with the help of Argo and Cav, tweaking her. I'll probably be posting the raw renders at some point for more feedback.
I'm really happy that everyone is being so supportive, and deeply appreciate everyone taking the time to give me feedback! I'm also really looking forward to showing off stuff we are working on for the comics.. .I think it's very obvious how much I beleive in these fabulous projects!
GRINS!
