We, as a society, seem to be realizing that there really is no such thing as character. Most mass murderers have been at worst decent citizens, and some were great contributors to their communities. Yet our social leaders are caught committing unspeakable crimes.
We seem to be judging people based on their actions. And that may be more accurate. But that is also real-time every day 24x7. One mistake, and you are never forgiven, no matter who you are. It doesn't even matter if you are found not guilty, you are still viewed as scum.
A nobody can become a hero with a single act. They can fall just as quickly back to nothingness. And Benedict Arnold was a renowned hero until he committed treason.
Character is supposed to be a quality of a person. But a single act can show otherwise. So, is the person good or bad? My observation is that people focus on your mistakes and will ignore your triumphs in a heartbeat.
Obviously the hero has the much harder path. To never err. The bad guy can still get a smile from a child with an ice cream.
Therefore, a hero is a professional doing good deeds, never making any serious errors, never failing to come through. It should also be obvious that there is no way to be a hero without great personal sacrifice and a great deal of caution regarding sensitive issues.
It is even more heroic to continue doing good deeds after you have committed a mistake and fallen from public favor. Just don't expect anyone to acknowledge that.
Kero heard that the Chinese Hundred Schools which might be called the Naturalists, consistented of men who attempted to explain nature's working on the basis of certain cosmic dual principles.
One of their concepts was the relative dualism of nature such as 'yin' is female, dark, cold, passive and 'yang' is male, light, hot, active.
And another concept of 'Moderation', in which good and evil are in perpetual conflict, yin and yang are mutually complementary and balancing. It is said that the harmony of the male and female principles, too.
The basic concept of the Naturalists was that all nature is made up of varying combinations of the five elements or five powers such as 'wood', 'metal', 'fire', 'water', and 'earth'.
Ninja classified psychological basic activity in terms of these five elements and made full use of these five powers for their espionage or physical combat.
To tell the truth, ninjutsu isn't all imagination. As far as I know, men and women of all ages can be mastered it to their latent abilities.
Just for reference, here are some links for ninja and ninjutsu.
