Day 17.

Our plan seems to be working. Our laughable promises of a speedy judgment seem to have raised their hopes, which we will now dash to pieces. The interminable waiting will drive them mad, although a few, such as this "GlitchGirl," might hold out longer than the bulk of the mindless rabble. But as has happened a thousand times before, once we break the spirit of their leaders, then the rest will cave.

Anyhoo, updates on two fronts:
1) The contest judging should be done by Wednesday. Yeah, Wednesday, sure, that's the ticket.

2) The challenge thing sounds fun. Maybe brainstorm a bit more about how to approach it...Do you base a figure on how that person's personality comes through in the forums? Do you use a picture? Does everyone exchange names (like the Secret Santa thing) or do you pick a small pool of 1-3 Animotions "characters" and everyone chooses one of them?

What says the group? Do we spread this to the other forums, too?

ooooo being broken is there a wheel or a rack involved? hrm inside thought, outside thought. . .sometimes i should not speak. .erm type..

Well with regards to the character challenge deal. . .if you open charcater nomination to everyone then we could conceivably have a zilliondy characters to choose from, yes? i mean there are a great many folk here at animotions 37k registered members or some such even granted that only a bare few actually post to the forums. It wasnt until recently that i started posting here regularly.

So what if we do an announcment of the challenge so everyone knows it is going on, we can put it in a forum. .do we have a challenge arena here? Then for say a week we nominate and second possible candidates. After a week we can either choose the peeps who received the most votes or we can flip a coin or create a visual basic program to randomly select numbers from the given base. . .erm sorry was thinking like a gamer right there.

OR
(and this just occured to me)
for 1 week people who want to be characacturized charicactured?. . anyway people who want to have pictures done of them as a hero/heroine (say no to drugs) post their name and a 500x700 collage of 4 pics of themselves that they think best characterize them. . .

or we can just wing it. all of these ideas were really simple inmy head but when i re-read them they sound way to complex. . .im battling here any other ideas?

My Spirit will never break never i say Thee Nay or something like that.
This other idea sounds cool and all so i say get the names of the people who would like to be poserized and then take a panel vote to choose the top 5
have the "contest" last 5 weeks each week a new member gets heroized poser style. The catch you say well yeah there is a catch, The contestants have do complete each character in each week to be eligable to win something. yet another catch if you happen to be a member that gets poserized hero style you can not enter or judge the contest.
Dang it is late and i have class in the morning

I like it, but I'm not sure about the last issue, about the "poserized" user being unable to judge the entries. It's him who is being poserized, I think he should have some say in it. Perhaps not giving the final word, but I don't see anything wrong in that person being a judge.

Will need 1 new forum (Character Challenge Forum)
and 2 new Galleries (Character Challenge Entries, Character Challenge Winners)

1. Advertise for the Challenge, which will be an ongoing, monthly one.
2. My thoughts would be to have everyone who is interested in playing to post their user names to a thread then, after 3 days close the thread.
3. Open a voting thread in which people select 3 names from those who want to participate, and number them in order of choice. This voting thread will be opened for only 2 days.
4. That leaves 2 Days to tally up the votes, with 1=3,2=2,3=1 on each ballot. "The top 3 will be the 3 of the month". With the #1 spot going first then the preceeding #'s
5. Each name will have 1 week. In which Characters will be submitted into the Character Challenge Entries Gallery.
6. Person Characterized selects their "chosen" preference from the characters submitted, and that then gets moved into the Character Challenge Winners Gallery.
7. Once you have been Characterized you cannot resubmit your name to be Characterized again for at least 6 months.
8. The challenge and all entries and players must abide by the general Animotions rules and guidelines.

Now I haven't included any "prizes" nor drawn anything up for that, but, was thinking that if this ever turned into something that prizes would be handed out, that perhaps every 3 or 6 months we could take the "preferred Characters" and vote for our favorites in a manner similiar as above and that perhaps the creator and the person characterized would both be the winners...maybe the person being characterized would get a signed poster, and the creator some type of disount or product.

I like that even more. Well organized and easy to follow.

Being in the position I'm in I try to find the "negative" things I guess that may cause problems, not becuase I'm a pessimist but I would rather do the job once rather than 3 times due to a discrepency, plus I like to crush all my boss' ecentric little ideas....so here I go

Yes we have 37K+ users, but out of those 98% are lurkers and only here to grab the free stuff, so if we did 3 a month of the "contributing members" after about 6-8 months we would have to start all over again

Most of us unfortunately have real jobs that hinder us greatly at times and/or a family, so trying to get everyone's "best" work in one weeks time will cut down on the number of entries submitted. I would go monthly, that way there's more entries and more time should equal better quality

Yes most of us are adults and we shouldn't let our prejudices/emotions affect our decisions, but ultimately someone is going to find offense with something in an image and not choose it because of it even though it may be a good image, "I just don't like this guy", or "they made my boobs/package too big" something stupid like that. With the community voting on the images it draws more people in not only to look but to vote and hopefully gets them to join the next challenge

Now again these are just my concerns, as usual I will be hiding behind my desk to avoid the yucky tomatoes, if you must throw food could you at least throw something I like to eat

I'd limit it to one character per contest, and maybe a 2 week or more deadline. Also, if you want to participate, you have to put your name into the hat for consideration.

Maybe have the actual selection of subject be more of a random thing. This will create a variety of challenges, as some people have a clear idea of how their character should look while others have only a vague idea and are open to more free interpretations. Personally, I'm all for everyone involved getting assigned a different person just for variety sake, but that's just me.

One more thing: I think judging should include the target person, but also two others, but only use a comminuty vote to narrow down teh top five if at all. After all, it IS their persona we're mucking about with, and they should have some say on what works as an interpretation and what is just completely off given the parameters and the purpose of the character. I tend to be kind of protective of my characters, and while I'm mostly willing to let her be used in a contest like this, I do want a chance to say "whoah, that's just...not right".

Yeah, so no Glitchy in Victoria's Secret stuff... however much the pervs may want it.

And no powerarmor for her... heh, with her "power", it'd short out and leave her motionless on the side of the road.

{muffled} "Guys? Guys? Get me out of here! Someone get this tin can offame!" {/muffled}

Actually, I think it might be cool to go with the characterization being based solely on the manner in which the subjects' present themselves here. No visual references to be used except for whatever graphic the subjects are using for avatars/icons (i.e., I use a photo that purports to be of me, in field uniform - but how do you know?) Most of the really active participants here have very distinct personalities and I'd like to see how others interpret them as a character.

First off...

I agree with Maple.L.S....his "icon" to me looks like popeye in camo.... :D

second...

patience young one, Confusious say....man who sits and waits patiently eventually gets a sore ass....

The judging is done, the winners have been determined, but no matter how many cookies you send me I'm not tellin', the powers that be are currently working on the winners page and the little 1st-2nd-3rd image trophies...so my guess is sometime between now...and when it's posted, my guess....pretty soon :D
