Rattler, thickening cloth can very much be a pain.
I use the cloth room extensively in Poser, and it really doesn't work well with anything if it's not a simple 2 sided plane.
One of the tricks I've used on occasion, is to calculate the drape and dynamics for a piece of cloth, then export it as a separate model. I can then do additional editing to the edges in another app to curl them about themselves to make them look thicker. Or simply add thickness to the entire plane.
I've tried doing it before bringing something into the cloth room, but unless you select those curled edges and assign them to a soft decorated group before running the simulation they unfurl. Making them as a soft decorated group also makes them "too" stiff, and often screws up a decent dynamic simulation.
I've also found that the cloth room really has trouble doing dynamics on "thick" materials. In spite of the various parameter changes I've tried for the cloth, you can't make a really "stiff" material. Even if you set the fold, shear and stretch parameters to 0 (or slightly higher than 0), it does nothing: it still reacts like cotton, and folds easily.
It might be that I'm missing something important when using the cloth room. But to date I've been unable to fully simulate something like, oooh, let's say thick rubber, or woven mat.
Well, I assume that if it was done as a Bump or Displacement Map, it wouldn't be as much of an issue. Technically, the geometry would still be a single polygon plane, so it would work as normal. The "Thickness" would a trick of texturing. Just an optical illusion really.
I've NEVER checked out the cloth room, so I don't know. Ussually if I need something like that, I also need a better renderer than Poser, so I let Lightwaves tools go at it.

Hehe, I can't stand the DireFly renderer in Poser. I export my poser stuff for assembly and rendering in Carrara.
Alas, displacement often only works on one side of a model, and bump won't affect the edges of a model, so creating thickness using either of those techniques works only sometimes.
However, any good vertice editor can add thickness to a model, even if it's planar, so you shouldn't have any problems adding some in Lightwave, so long as you're doing your final assembly and render there.
Edit: Well, I misspoke, you can always export, add thickness, and reimport, regardless of your final rendering app, of course.

Hey Jim, I've started running into poke through on any poses where the arms are too far over the hero's head in flight poses like this one:
I was wondering if you could make a cape prop that looked kinda like those cones biting dogs must wear around their necks with the rim point up over their head so they can't bite people. That way higher arm positions wouldn't automatically poke through the prop. I did finally figure out how to shorten the cape with a transmap by editing your batcapetransmap.
The cape is real sweat i have had minor pokethrough problems with the shoulders which i am sure has more to do with me than the prop.
Thanks for the great prop and mimi tut.
Mizrael make sure that nothing is poking through in the zero pose and after you pose the figuretry to make sure that the poke through is not that much. then when you clothify it should work better also make sure that all your figures and props are selected in the colide menu that should fix your problem.
