Yes. I haven't seen the Dr. Strange, although in the DVD age I'm catching up. There's been a couple of Captain Americas, one with Sam Brown, I think, of Flash Gordon, on a motorbike with a crash helmet and a secret identity as a surfer dude, bloody awful. Spider-Man had some TV movies pasted together from the Nicholas Hammond series, and some kung-fu films, which I see occasionally on DVD but have never felt up to probably wasting a fiver on. One day, possibly.
Recently I saw the pilot for the Flash TV series of about ten years back. Apart from the odd few seconds of super-speed, it was rubbish.
What have been the TV or movie superhero highlights? Superman I, Tim Burton's first Batman, the recent Spider-Man films, the Incredible Hulk TV series... Personally I enjoyed the Phantom and Shadow films, although that doesn't necessarily mean they were good, just that I'm a sad old fanboy. Rocketeer I can't remember, although I'll watch it again soon. And the '40s Fleischer Superman cartoons are great, imaginative fun: you can't beat watching him punch back a great thick beam of light. Now that's a superhero!

Joss Whedon is writing the script for a new Wonder Woman movie as we speak, mooted for a 2007 release. So far there are absolutely no details on the cast, so this one is up for grabs all round.
So far, I've seen people suggesting Angelina Jolie (probably too obvious), Aishwarya Rai (unlikely, leftfield choice) and Lindsay Lohan (no way, surely) for the lead role.
I haven't got a clue, myself so I'll think on this a little more. What do you lot reckon?

Ah... The Shadow and The Rocketeer... LOVE those movies. It's funny you should mention them -- I bought The Shadow DVD just after Christmas and The Rocketeer just last month. _________________ Jim Harnock - ODS

I have them on my wihlist at Amazon ... I plan on getting them right after taxes are done I saw the Rocketeer, in part, a few weeks ago and had to get it.
Well, I saw The Shadow a few years ago and at the time had more of a hangup about distorting his origin (such, and vague, as it is). Watched it again recently and just enjoyed it.
I love Dave Stevens's Rocketeer but can't remember much of the film since I last saw it. I will watch it again soon.
No fans of Billy Zane's Phantom? Even if you hold your hand over the screen when Catherine Zeta Jones appears and pretend she's not there?

A movie of Wonderwoman ? Hadn't heard about that one.
I was never a big fan of the original comic (too much bondage for my taste) but the TV series was fun and if Joss Whedon is scripting its got to be worth a look.
It will be interesting to see how its cast. If I remember the original artwork she was pretty hefty whereas today's actresses - well, lets just say that implants aside I've seen more meat on a butcher's pencil.
I think they should cast an unknown.
Or Jo Brand of course.
I enjoyed the Shadow too and wish I had his ability to cloud men's minds - although at PC world I do sometimes seem to have that power.
The Phantom was just silly, but then so was the original strip - altogether now - Phannnntommmm! Phannnntommmm!... _________________ A broken stereotype is a beautiful thing
Oh, and if movie producers ever decided to go back to that "creepy-portmanteau-with-hosts" formula, a la Tales from The Crypt, I'd suggest a suitably made-up Willem Dafoe as Cain and Kevin "Clerks" Smith as Abel.
I don't think they would ever be able to beat that really scary one - forgive my vagueness but the title escapes me - it was an old (black and white?) British film featuring a guy who had premonitions and (amongst other things) a ventriloquists dummy. That one, a perfect illustration of how to be genuinely creepy without spending gezillions on special effects. _________________ A broken stereotype is a beautiful thing
