Reason to use Poser 6?
That's what I've been using for a few months now, isnt that reason enough?
but seriously, yeah, Poser 5 was a dog, and I didnt support it after it came out, but Poser 6, ah they finally got it right! (mostly)
Much better library
much better material lab
much better renders and lights
but with all good things come a cost, longer renders when you go for the best of the best quality.
How to hook up another runtime? It's easy, just go to the top level of the library and click on the "add runtime" then point to another runtime folder on your computer through a browser window and you're good to go.
It's still a pita to set up marterials. You can do all, or one by one. Why the hell can't you select the ones you want to change and do them as a group?

I do a lot of "select all", "Copy" and then "paste" in the materials that I want to be the same.
I think there are some after market python scripts that do what you're after though. Heck, there's probably better ways in P6 that I just havent figured out yet too.

The main reasons given for buying Poser V-Sux seem to be "better lights, libraries, and renders compared to p4".
I tried the demo and was seriously unimpressed by the total lack of memory management we have come to expect from poser...
If all you want is better libraries, lighting, textures, and renders than p4/pp, get a copy of Daz Studio, its a ZERO dollar upgrade, and a few bucks on the dform plugin, and morph object importer plugin, and you're away.
I heartily second the recommendation for Shader Spider. It even makes MAT poses (in any or all versions). It totally rocks! AND there's a Mac version, too.
