Just thought I'd chime in with a few pieces of useless info.
Batman also had a 3D comic...can't quite remember what it was called but the Joker somehow became a virus or something. Weird.
Many 3D render engines do not give you the option to render out at a certain dpi, so you have to plan ahead in your rendering and render out at higher screen resolutions using 72 dpi images. So the equivalent of 300DPI on a 72 DPI image I think is somewhere around 3,000X3,000 ppiX72dpi. That's usually what I have to render out as from the software I use if I want a decent print resolution. The higher the screen res, the better the image quality of the final print. Also, you can fake things like antialiasing by rendering big, scaling down and then blowing back up a little.
Just some goofy stuff I picked up in my travels. |

well, I never render anything in Poser over 150 dpi, because, with my processor power, higher than that would kill my machine.
But then, when i take all my renders to photoshop, I increase the dpi from time to time. I'm not printing anything right now, but I would guess that even if I take the dpi to 300 in photoshop, a rendered 150 dpi image will still look like 150dpi even if I boosted it up to 300 in PS. _________________ **************

hmmm, what do you guys think about comics in ebook format?
I recently finished my prequel to my trilogy (I was testing the waters as I'm new to all of this and it's a dream).
So then I started thinking hmmm what if I self publish. It would be cost effective and I can put some interactivity within the ebook itself just like on my site. But the main question is would it sell? Is there a market for comics/graphic novels in ebook format?
I know the information guys make like 20k to 50k a month selling information ebooks. But what about entertainment? I checked out Ellera's Cave and they are selling like 30,000 ebooks a month which is not to shabby ( but they have more than 1 author).
What do you guys think? |

I know myself, I would, if the story was worth the read. I read about 4 books in a week, all fiction, and my PDA can use eBooks, for my long travels for work, if the story was good, I would pay for it. _________________ =============================

oh, I thought you were talking about the actual e-books... i mean, this PDA (is that the name?, I forgot) like portable machines where you would download books, then press the "next page" button and that sort... I mean, it's the same system, but I guess that nowadays everyone gets to call e-books to any book in pdf format.
As aremis said, if the story is good (and the art as well), I don't see why your ebook wouldn't sell... I guess you'll always have to take chances and go for it anyway. _________________ **************

| Bill Fleming published a 3D rendered comic called PLATINUM a few years ago. It had a weak story. 3D has been a novelty gimmic in comics. But the production pipelines are streamlining. In the future all comics will be 3D rendered. Pencillers and inkers are becoming lumbering dinosaurs. |

I checked out Ellora's Cave. Those storys all full of x-rated sex! They have multiple genres including
science fiction, but no comics genres or formats. Here's an ebook comics line at www.unboundcomics.com |

oh great, thanks for the url, I went ahead and contacted them. Yeah Ellora's cave is romance novels they say "Erotic Romance or Romantica"
And they say they have plans to open 2 more bookstores, one an erotica website and the other a mainstream fiction site.
Does anyone know of any other ebook comic or graphic novel online bookstores or one that has that genre catergory? |

Ya know... this sounds like a pretty cool cool thing for Animotions to get into.
Why not make issues of original Comics available for sale in PDF format here in the store?
Make em' start cheap enough, like about a buck each. As they as they get older they cost more to get the book. That's incentive to get them when they first come out and will give people that "Collector" incentive as as reward those who make "Indy" books.
Can a PDF be enctypted with a serial number on the fly? If it can, then as part of paying for the book, a random key could be included. This would make illegal "sharing" of the book traceable to a unique buyer.
Animotions could actually become real comic book label like Image, Marvel, DC, Dark Horse... |

Print is definitely starting to rear it's head with alot of the online comics. I've seen Machine Phase before (back when it was just a factory phase haha...bad joke) and always liked his work. His website has some cool stuff on it.
I'm surprised no one mentioned the guys over at Drive comics (I think it's http://drivecomics.com/)
They put out a great comic (I've got the physical print at home) and it's all 3d. Alotta work I'm sure...but that's the issue...so much work and often not enough folks working on it together. I know with my comic I'm lucky if I update 2 in a year! And I haven't even been that detailed in my art to boot! I'm afraid to think how long it'll take in my new issues with all the upgrading I've done! |
