I'm up for this as well... got no particular preference as to who we work on, since (as far as I'm concerned) it doesn't take too long to look up the more obscure characters online to get a couple of reference shots.
One thing i should note, however: the reference to this challenge in the newsletter does'nt take you to THIs forum thread - instead, it takes you to one of palmer's threads in the comics discussion forum (cant' remember which one, sorry!0. It took a bit of work tracking this down, but obviously, I was inerested enough to do it!

Although I've been out of the poser loop for sometime...I do stop by here to checkout the artwork! As for challenges/ renders, I see ALOT of "PIN UP" style renders that just have a character in some basic pose with a funky background. Don't get me wrong...there's nothing wrong with that (and I know there are many people still learning how to use Poser and whatnot). But personally, I would much rather see a classic battle or even a re-creation of a panel from a comic! Now thats what I call a challenge...(and good practice too!)
As for XMEN, I guess you do need a "hook" and they are in the limelight right now! Wolverine is just everywhere these days! So oversaturated...snikt...snikt! But again, its that hook thang that will hopefully get people going. Hey, I may even dust off my cd and reinstall poser for this! |

If I have time, I'm game.
I would like to see some lesser known/lesser renderd characters used though. As long as there is a link or an easily found visual refrence to said character ( don't want to spend hours trying to find ONE good shot ) I'm interested. _________________ "Flash, quit heckling the supervillain!" - Green Lantern

As I said, I am good for anyone but I figured I would go for the limelight things first. Obscure characters don't pull as many people in but they are fine to vote for. Most times it will be much easier since it isn't a team that the character is tied to.
You don't have to do a pinup style you could go all out. And that is the challenge part of it. You CAN just do a pinup one figure thing or you can go all out and have the whole team and bad guys etc. That option is up to you. As long as it has the character of the month as a major part of it it will be allowed.
Right now there is one vote for Wolverine, one for Cyclops. |

Just to confuse matters further... I think that of the three mentioned so far, Iceman would be the most intersting choice - in particular, ways to render his 'ice' look. All three have their challenges - Wolverine's hair comes to mind (for those going for the unmasked look), and Cyclops' visor and beams... but for my money, the Iceman comes out on top.

digitalmagi, that pretty much works for the Wolverine one so I will put you down for that (since you can have any extras and supporting people you want.)
So that is now three for Wolverine, two for Iceman and one for Cyclops. |

Not really sure .. The official site isn't too dialup friendly I don't think and I haven't looked into the movie versions past looking at the site quickly.
www.superherohype.com might have good links |
