Can we get a little more obscure for the August Challenge? Maybe a Conan, Solomon Kane or Kull? Better still. . . something from Edgar Rice Rurroughs? Or maybe a Western theme. . . . Maybe just Film Noir or Pulp Heroes erm. . . ok im done. .

Film noir sounds good to me - time to brush off the old fedora....

Barsoom sounds good to me. Good old John Carter, Warlord of Mars...

John Carter or Carson of Venus or even Tarzan Lord of the Apes. Granted Burroughs' writing covers a lot of territory. Fantasy, sci-fi, western, historical (cough) etc etc etc. You need to admire a man who never let facts get in the way of telling a good story.

Could get really out there and pick a character from say Heinlein, or Asimov. . . but i think there isnt only a small percentage of us who have read most of this stuff.

I still want to keep it comic based but a lot of those do have comics. And here I was thinking that Marv from Sin City, Hellboy or even Solomon Grundy was a bit more obscure. I guess we can do a bit of old school stuff though as long as it had a comic.

There is that, although Conan, Solomon Kane and John Carter have all had their own books (eye ballin' my Red Sonja books right now)

Hellboy would be an interesting challenge, no doubt there. Or maybe Chastity or some of the other indie titles. Jim Balants Tarot? >=)

Tarzan has had his own book as well. I am not really familiar with John Carter but I know he had a comic based on it. I don't remember seeing a Solomon Kane but there definately could be.

I will start up another thread to talk about it.

Kane usually had either a limited series or a short bit in the back of the King Conan, the big b&w mag not the regular monthly comic. i think he was just a little too intolerant for comic book audiences.

Frankly, any of those would be okay. Solomon Grundy might be a bit dull.

Yes, but not in the comics. White-skinned Hulk in a Frankenstein's monster suit.

I guess my suggestion has fallen on deaf ears.
